In an ideal world where no one is EVER rushed, where there are NO Schedules to meet, where there is NEVER anything burning on the stove, where there are NO Bad drivers in mall parking lots, where there is NO bullying, where parents always think of their children first, where parents have NO needs, where there are NO social pressures . . .

i guess i could see it your way. unfortunately it's not that way in real life.

LeeTJ, still waiting to see how this relates to the discussion. what are you trying to say here?

my point was, that sometimes life demands EXPEDIENT answers and not necessarily "best" answers.

it's the difference between Officers and Sargents. Officers come up with idealized strategies and plans but it's left up to the sargents to implement them. do they always follow the plan of the officers down to the letter? NO, very often real life doesn't allow it. they have to make decisions.

real life decisions are like that in all phases of life INCLUDING child rearing.

Excess,be it too many things and not enough limits or verbal/physical abuse make for a damaged kid.

I got shipped north to relatives as a teenager, packed and left home for good at 17 and never looked back.
When I raised my own I tried to remember how I was raised and what effect it had on me.My kids might not have had all the material comforts but they know they were and are loved by me.
