USC losing helped West Virginia/Louisville the most because they have a clear shot at the national championship game. It hurt Cal and Notre Dame the most because a win against USC won't look as impressive now.

the best thing that could happen is louisville, wv, and rutgers all giving each other a loss over the next few weeks.

wv is 86th in SOS. horrible. louisville is 67th. ugh! rutgers is almost respectable at 53rd.

Mlech...a circle jerk is a circle jerk. Though no one would be crying about not getting to play for the national championship anymore. There still would be a little bit of crying about being kept out of BCS bowls, though.

Also, what about Rutgers-UConn? Do they just write that game off or will Rutgers get credit for two games next week?

i guess they'll get two games added into next week's poll

If WVU manages to make it to the NC it will just be a huge blowout. A UM/OSU rematch would be more entertaining.

Rutger doesn't play again until the 9th. For the UConn game, the voters won't remember it happened and the computers will count it as normal for next week.

What I don't understand is this:

Why is it that the national media is so quick to try and find the "best 1-loss teams" yet they NEVER mention Michigan or Ohio State. All of the human polls have Michigan and tOSU at 1 and 2. One of those teams is going to lose to the other. Let's say it is a very good and close game (as UM/tOSU tends to be). The team that loses will have lost to the #1 team in the BCS. Michigan and tOSU are projected to have played the 3rd and 9th toughest schedule in the nation, respectively, after November 18th. Why is it so far fetched to believe that the two best teams in the country are UM and tOSU? Isn't that what the BCS was supposed to help decide?

They have 4 common opponents. Of the other 5, most are of similar strength, except that Michigan has beaten Wisconsin, which is far better then Ohio State's second best opponent. Since the computers can't factor in scores, Michigan has gone undefeated against a slightly better schedule and should be ranked first.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. But the voters don't take too kindly to a loss of any kind, especially the week after. It's always been that way.

I wonder what would need to happen for OSU/Michigan to have a rematch in the title game? I think that OSU would have to be the 1-loss team. Seems like Michigan is weighted too low under OSU for them to lose and stay ahead all the other 1-loss teams.

Probably, though I don't remember. I stand by my opinion however that WVU is ranked too high considering they haven't played anyone even remotely challenging yet.

In the case where OSU/Mich game is close, I hope that there is not a rematch for the championship game. It would clear up a lot more questions on who is the best team if the winner were to play an undefeated team (e.g. WV).
