Rutgers FTW!!! I dont think they won 6 games my entire time that I studied there!

Dang I wonder how hard it is to get tickets now... the stadium is only 5 minutes down the road from my house. I never went to any games while I was there, but it might be fun now!

Name one team in the Big 12 besides Texas that is any good. Oklahoma is the second best, and they are pure trash without Peterson.

Texas has played one good team and one above average team (Oklahoma). OSU absolutely waxed UT. Chokelahoma didn't have their starting QB, and it looks like Nancy Stoops has been coaching that D instead of Mike Stoops. Him going to Arizona hurt OU more than everyone thought it would.

The Big 10 is incredibly weak this year outside OSU and Michigan, although there's always a dangerous team like Wisconsin or Iowa lurking around.

No, I can only think of one conference that has any depth this year and it is the SEC. Maybe the PAC-10 as well, but USC is a little off this year. However, WSU, Wash, Oregon, and Cal are playing rather well.

PAC-10 fans know I've never had a lot of love for their conference, but they have more depth than any other conference except for the SEC.

Finally, I don't understand what you are saying about it being crappy offense. Texas has played one team with a defense (OSU), and they barely scored. I'm sorry, but teams like Baylor that regularly give up 35-45 points to UAB don't have good defenses.

I've got simple proof that SEC teams have great defenses... look at any team's Secondary, D-Line, and Linebackers. The SEC has more starters playing on top D units in the NFL than any other conference. Hell, I'd say a vast majority of the NFL starters come from a select 10-15 football programs. Several of those programs happen to include Auburn, Texas, USC, Miami, OSU, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, etc.

It is pointless to sit here and rip each other's conferences. We need a playoff, because it is the only way most teams are going to get to play for a championship. Otherwise, conference championships are going to doom -- or at least come close -- a lot of team's hopes for a title.

red herrings and strawmen. yes, the big xii is down. never claimed otherwise. current nfl players doesn't have any bearing on who is currently in the SEC, either. that isn't contrary to the SEC being overrated this year. GA almost lost to colorado. it is still getting votes in the rankings (and is still ranked in one poll) after getting exposed by vanderbilt. vanderbilt. how else can GA still getting votes be explained other than SEC bias?


as for OSU absolutely waxing UT, did you bother watching the game? OSU could not run on UT. the largest reason OSU won is because UT's best corner was dumb enough to be in the backseat of a car with a loaded gun on his lap, asleep, at 3 am on monday morning. even with that, UT still might have won had the receiver not been stretching for the goal line and fumbled the ball. of course, a quarterback getting his 2nd ever career start couldn't have had anything to do with it, either.

but hey, that is one more touchdown than auburn's offense put up against florida.

Auburn (with one loss) ahead of undefeated WVU is a freaking joke. WVU is the reigning SEC champion from last year.

They were, but they smacked down the SEC Champs last year (UGA) in the Sugar Bowl which means they are the reigning champs (in a fecetious way).

Please.. obviously they didn't become the SEC champions by beating Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, but the Big East champ did beat the SEC champ and you can't take that away from them. You can bicker and whine all you want about Georgia perhaps not being the best SEC team of last year, but that only makes you sound like an anti-Big East fool looking for an excuse to minimize an incredible accomplishment against a superior team from a superior conference with superior talent. Here's proof they can compete with the big boys, yet you still want to quibble over exaggerated technicalities like calling them the SEC champs. I'm still waiting for the "it was just one game" excuse.

First explain how it's a technicality.

And please show where I bickered or whined about Georgia not being the best SEC team last year. Then, show where I minimized WV's win.

I made a generalization that you could bicker and whine about it that wasn't directed at you, it was ment for those who have tried to minimize the win by saying Georgia wasn't even the best SEC team, or that they didn't have THAT good a run defense, etc etc. The 'technicality' I'm talking about was SP33Demon calling them the SEC champs in a fecetious way. Of course they're not the SEC champs, but since so many consider the Big East to be a fraud conference and SEC to be one of the best, fecetiously supplanting UWV as the SEC champ by beating Georgia in the Sugar Bowl is just a way of saying they beat the the winner of a conference on the polar opposite of where the Big East is considered to be. I wasn't trying to insult or bash your opinions on the subject, so sorry if it came out that way.

No need to be sorry (It's just a game after all, and a game that I don't even play), but I appreciate the apology :thumbsup:

Yup. When Cal went 1-10 in 2001, Rutgers was our only win 😀

But I do know how you feel...in the years I attended the school, Cal went 19-37. Since then, they've gone 32-13 :Q

Although I won't agree that the SEC is playing bad football, I can't say I haven't noticed some media bias favoring them.

When Oregon loses to a middle-of-the-road Pac 10 team, the journalists chant "Over rated."

When Auburn loses to a middle-of-the-road SEC team, the journalists praise the SEC's depth.

I went to a Big 10 school and my favorite team is an independant, so there's no agenda being pushed here, just how I see things in a sport without an agreeable playoff system. 😛

There may well be a media bias, but what reasoning do you have for claiming the SEC is "bad" football. That's a real 'WTF?' statement.

Yeah, it'll just be called the University of Phoenix Stadium when they play the BCS National Championship game there.

I mean, it's possible that they all could lose, but he has to be talking about the Fiesta Bowl.

Here's what would have to happen, in what I think is the order of likelihood:
(1) WV and Louisville are basically the only tough game left on each others' schedules so one automatically gets a loss (100% chance of one of them losing, good start 😉)
(2) USC beats ND
(3) USC drops one to Cal/Ore
(4) Michigan gets destroyed by Ohio State, and destroyed harder than UT got destroyed
(5) Rutgers has to step up and beat the winner of the WV-Louisville game
(6) Georgia beats both Auburn and Flordia

So anyway...Yes, I'm almost certain he was referring to the Fiesta Bowl

:| I remember that day very clearly. Rutgers lost every game that season and when I heard we were playing "California" I was like 'Who the hell are they?' I saw they were 0-10 also and thought 'Heeeey... maybe we got a chance!' BAH!

DO you know how bad last year was for me? I came to Cal when they went 10-2 with that close USC loss. Before the loss to Texas Tech, no one called us overrated, and damn right we should've gone to the Rose Bowl, and watching our team play like a top 5 team was amazing. Then last year.. Ugh... wtf was that. I saw my first losing game (USC) at home, and I was shocked by the way our team played the whole semester...

Kinda sucks when you expect your team to play like it did in the 04' season.
