OK, so it looks like their whole new operating system just barely catches up to Android and Apple.

I suppose for hardcore Blackberry fans this may be exciting. But do they really think they're going to take market share back?

Have they lost significant marketshare over the last couple of years? Seems like it has been holding pretty steady at 40%

Blackberry must have had like 80% at one point if they are now holding steady at 40%.

Don't let facts cloud your judgement. Apparently when BB6 catches up in the areas it's lacking it still sucks. When iOS finally gets some features that BB3,4&5 have had for years, it's magical. Get used to it. I give up arguing that an OS is greater than it's screen res & browser.

To be fair, my Blackberry Curve did just about everything my current Droid does.

Well, except:

It couldn't view webpages correctly, but that's not a huge deal
It was extremely slow
Music player was even more limited
Pretty graphical stuff? Not in a million years.

I'm still waiting for AT&T to release BBOS 5 for my Bold 9000. By the time 6 is available I'm sure RIM will be up to OS 8 or 9.

Oh well.. I won't have my BB for that much longer anyway.

Really? There's a laundry list of things that iOS or Android cannot still do to this day that BB OS can. Phandroids need not apply, especially as you haven't even smelled this OS, you're just bashing it, troll style.

I don't care if my BB can teleport me across the universe. If the features it has can't be done well then I don't care for it. I think a lot of users feel the same way. Look at RIM's and Symbian's falling market share despite their worldwide domination. If RIM/Symbian doesn't do anything to compete, the future is iOS and Android, maybe WinMo7 too.

Its utterly foolish to believe that you'll always be at the top.

They already are, yet as soon as they do you glibly shit on it without even using it. What do you base this hypothesis on? Hearsay? Populist rabble rousing? Are you afraid to say it looks cool because your geek friends will shun you? Get real. Use it, then pan it for all I care, but saying it's shit based upon the two official teasers is a joke.

I'm basing my opinions off the teaser. From what I can see from the demo, I can only see current BB users being impressed. Even with BB OS 6, its still dated. Luckily for RIM they handle email very well.

East Asia? No..

Are you serious? All builds have all languages. There is zero risk, and you can just load the old OS if you don't like it.

Tell you what, I'll send you five BlackBerrys if it doesn't work and have every language in it just as any other build of the OS.*

*Tip, I won't have to send you anything, it will work fine. ;)

EDIT: I also have been using a BB for work for four years, it's safe. My Storm 2 runs a hybrid and operates flawlessly with my corporations BES infrastructure.

It's pretty obvious you haven't used it, because one of the main features of the phone is done the best by Blackberry and as yet unsurpassed by any other phone. I'm talking about message organization and customizable mail server support. Iphone doesn't even come close, and you need a slew of 3rd party things to get it working on Android... and even then it's spotty, what with dropped emails and such.

There's a reason RIM dominates the worldwide market, and that's because it's still the best messenger organization out there for business BAR NONE. You can't argue it, and if you think you can it's just a testament to your pig headedness and inability to admit RIM actually does something right.

Stunning.

I watched Top Gear on Sunday night. They had the new Aston Martin Rapide on there, but it drives like shit, isn't fast and only Aston owners would be impressed. I know this from what I watched in the show.

Could the BB fanboys give me a list of BB's advantages? I'm not trolling. I legitimately would like to get your perspectives.

Do you always only listen to yourself talk? I gave credit to BB about its email. Other than it doing one thing well, whoopty doo, congratulations, thats so groundbreaking. Like I said only BB users would get a kick out of BB OS 6.

Blackberries are all business and nothing about multimedia. The teaser is targeting media users and if a teaser fails to impress, I'm not gonna waste my time going through a rehash of an OS that wasn't meant for media in the first place. The teaser barely came close to what iOS4/Android is doing now.
