there's nothing to discuss. everyone already knows that a pc can have far superior graphics than any console has. it's been this way for the past 20 years and isn't going to magically change now.

That's not a complete PC, just an upgrade.

It included a case, PS, mouse, kb, etc. I didn't think anyone would be interested in low end no name equipment.

In any case, its totally possible to build a functional PC for less than $400. Though I did leave out the OS I guess. Depending on your situation you can get that pretty cheap though. If I was really looking for deals I'm sure I could fit it in as well. As I said, I didn't spend any time looking for deals, just a quick sort by price and add to cart. Worst case you'll spend $50 more and you'll still get several free games out of it.

a 7850 is almost $200 and a fx-4130 is another $100. That is most of your budget and you're missing case, MB, ram, PSU, keyboard, mouse, and OS.

When was the last time you looked? There were a ton of 7850 near $150 and I didn't even bother with the 1gb model. The cpu could even be cut down a bit if you really wanted. Spend 10 minutes and try it yourself.

If there is any benefit at all to a console it is never having to worry about what driver version is best for a specific game.

Nothing like installing a game that has blank textures, crashes, tanked performance etc and having to go download a new beta driver for it lol. I don't really mind it that much as I keep up to date anyway. I am sure some people don't and blame the game.

I literally highlighted 7850, right clicked, and picked 'google search: 7850' and the first result was a 7850 for $179.99. So, the new stipulation, is that I have to search through deal websites and use mail in rebates to get a PC for under $400 that is capable of gaming? I haven't even commented on the monitor yet (which more houses don't have, unlike a TV).

So, I have to search for deals on the right parts (ignoring if I know what goes together with what, which would be an awesome feature for Newegg to have for their cart btw), assemble my PC correctly, install my OS, install my games and then I can hope the default / automatic graphics settings aren't crap for my hardware or I have to tinker with that; all so I can have a $400 PC that can play games an PS4 can? Well, I think most people will go with a console instead. It takes a whole 2 cables to be plugged in and I'm off to the races!

PCs are just not as convenient as consoles in most aspects.

Don't perpetuate their trolling nonsense by replying IMO.

Yep. That's pretty much the gist.

But your original argument was, price wise, it couldn't be done. Quit changing your standpoint to suit your view.

Anyway, keep your convenience. The rest of us that have enough brain cells to put some legos together would rather not suck Sony or Microsoft's dick.

Well...Microsoft's hardware based dick, anyway.

Ugh, I apologize for replying to this like it was posted in the PC forum.

So I take it PC gamers and console gamers regularly fight here? LOL. Over what?

If one likes such and such, so be it. Me, if I may speak about myself, have been playing mostly PC games for the past 10 or so years. Before that, I was a big console gamer. However, I will buy the next gen consoles when they're released because I want to play sports games. I've come to realize that sports games are better played on consoles.

Everything has its pros and cons. Everything. So the consoles may have inferior graphics but if the game-play is great, then so what? Besides, the graphics variance is only minor.

Also, for some people, who are on their computers a lot, sitting down to play a console can be a change. That is one reason I'm planning on getting either the PS4 or Xbox One.

So, let everyone play as they please. Your preferred method of gaming might work for you but may not for everyone. If you accept that, it would be easier for everyone.

It's great that a few in this thread can have a reasonable opinion in this regard. Really, the PC master race shtick is just getting old and annoying - and i'm saying that as an extensive PC gamer. However, the console offers better experiences for some types of games while the PC is better in others.

I just don't see the point of this thread, it's obvious that some here are just to troll. I don't like android, but then again I don't go to android forums to talk about how much I hate it. What a waste of time - everyone has their choice and let them have fun with it. Or you could be a reasonable person and realize that both are viable (PCs and consoles) in terms of providing great gameplay experiences.

Looks like 720p@60fps is confirmed. That is not terrible, the huge upside is that everyone is playing as that resolution and performance though. No dude with crazy high res on a sharp monitor picking people off from the hip.
I used to be a PC loved(big time), but the convenience of popping in the disc and playing against everyone who has virtually the exact same setup as me is really fun. It feels more fair.

I own both consoles and a rather high end PC because I like both. There are games on PC that are better than the console version. There are games on console that I cannot get on PC but I want to play. For me there is no reason to choose one or the other. The arguments don't make sense to me. I can see both viewpoints but the way they are presented can be picked apart all day. Graphics and resolution this, drivers and software bugs that etc.

My argument wasn't anything. I didn't even bring it up. I was just shooting down hardware choices people were claiming.

Strange. They are cheaper on newegg. Like I said I didn't do anything special to get that price in my cart. Went to one site and just added stuff to get all the parts I needed. You can't really count a monitor against a PC as a) consoles don't have them included in the price and you have to add the price of a TV if you want to be fair b) they can hook up at a TV just fine via hdmi if its your only display.

I'll give you that PCs are far harder to put together and maintain than a console. Just that its not like the console is any great deal hardware-wise. IE given the price of PC parts right now its unlikely that they're selling the consoles at a loss on launch this time. I think the biggest win is really that you don't have to worry about upgrading the console down the line. A PC that costs the same as a console today won't be doing much gaming in 4 years. Consoles will.

Unfortunate, but next gen consoles need about 2x the graphics horsepower to generate a leap in graphics that most have come to expect from new consoles.

Not true...I have already seen games that simply were not possible to make visually on a 360 or ps3.

lol.

Obvious reality is reality. However, this title will look fantastic on the Xbox One. This title will look fantastic on the PS4, and yes, this title will look even MOAR fantastic on a (well specced) PC.

Who cares? People are going to have a blast regardless of where they play this.

I think those playing in a dedicated theater room might have a little more of a blast than others.

I remember when I first put BF3 in on my HT setup with the WarSounds soundtrack on. I had trauma afterwards...

I'll probably build another sub or two for this game if I can afford it.

Edit: Can someone confirm where they say BF4 will be 720p@60fps?
That's utterly ridiculous, this is 2013 and it's been 8 years and we're still stuck at 720p? I'm not buying this game for console if so. I really wanted it on Xbox One/PS4 to play with friends and not have to deal with getting wrecked by the PC crowd ('m using a controller), but I'm not going back to 720p ever again lol. I'm looking to upgrade to a 120 inch screen, not doing 720p on it.
I looked forward to XboxOne/PS4 for over a year JUST for 1080p. Man this sucks.

It was confirmed months ago that they went with 64 players online 720p at 60fps.
