Go into your C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Movies folder
and rename
Dice.bik
EA.bik
and
Intro.bik
Then when you start up you'll see the legal.bik and then it goes to the main menu... even if you rename legal.bik there will still be the 3 sec pause while it "displays" it.

Great, thank you much!

Gotta say though, that intro movie is beautiful.

I finally got my joystick to be recognized in WinXP. It seems that flying with a joystick is hard in all new ways.

A little change in topic here.

What is your favorite map? What is your least favorite map?

My favorite so far is probably Stalingrad. Fairly even, lots of hiding spots, tanks effectiveness is reduced, can actually use the multilevels in the buildings.

My least favorite has to be the Battle of the Bulge. That map is boring, at least if you don't have full squads (most I've played is 10-12 a side). At that point, the Axis almost have more tanks than people. Giving them a huge advantage. And just making the game tedious. And its two nights in a row that I've had to play this map this way. When will be able to vote a mapchange?

So far a good game. Still a bit annoyed at the aiming/hitting. I think they have over active netcode in it. I mean its ridiculous how far you have to lead at times based on how far away the guy is. And the splash damage seems to be a bit screwy. A bazooka exploding right next to you should kill you, but no it has to be dead on.

Oh well, good game. Definitely worth the money and the upgrade to the video card.

Thats El Alamein. Thats a good one on the allies side, they get a B17. At least two other maps get B17's too, Market Garden and Bocage.

There are three maps aparently that I haven't played. Berlin, Gazala, and Guadalcanal. Instead, I keep getting to play El Alamein, Kursk, and Battleaxe.

I don't really dislike any of them

Bulge is fun but you've got to have a lot of ppl

I really like El Amien or whatever it is

I pretty much like them all so far and haven't played them all enough to get a favorite

Single player is worse than Multi as far as frame rate

if you turn the CPU to AI level down it'll improve A LOT

I think I have a cpu lined up and ready to go. It's going to be about a week and a half before I get the server up though. I'm going to be out of town on business for a week. I'll get the server going when I get back.

66.205.139.91

But a lot of times I just see if anyone is on IM or ppl will IM me and we go into a game together where we have low pings

IM me anytime (cept right now :p) and see if I can play

neomits isn't the ip of the middle one 63.250.7.78? I am at work so I can't confirm it, but I know the Arsclan ones don't start with 36.

Also, I wouldn't post their passwords on ATOT. They are a clan separate of ATOT and pw protect their server for a reason. Just post a link to where they can find the password if they want. Which would be Arsclan.net.

The others are not passworded last I checked.

Note: I typically play on the passworded server. Sometimes its a bit low on people, but the people there play for real with no smarktards.

I don't know what was up tonight, but there were some people on the Ars passworded server that were being smacktards.
TK'ing to just speed up the map change (it was on Wake).
Spending all their time flying a plane while their team is losing big time.

At this rate, the Arsclan will password it and not post it anywhere. You'll have to PM them at their forum to get it. Wouldn't be surprised to see that soon.

And I am really starting to hate the Bulge map. I play from 8pm-Midnight Eastern and it seems that I will always be playing Bulge because it always comes up. I never get to play Berlin, Gazala, or Guadalcanal which I haven't played yet. And I rarely get to play Stalingrad which I really like. When are they coming up with a mapchange system like CS has?

You know that's not possible. ;)
We could probably pick an EA server and take it over for a while though... seems like 80% of them are empty when I get home and the rest are completely full.
Sometimes I just run my own 6 player server though... did that last night, everybody pings well and we get a chance to do things you can't do on a 32 player server... like practice dog fighting, bombing, etc. Smacktard free. ;)
Last night was B17 map night.

I have a considerable amount of bandwidth at my disposal (50% of a portion of a DS3, 9 megabit). I don't have the hardware yet, but I can get a P4 1.8 with 512 ram to host it. I actually had it up for a while but I couldn't get the game classified on the packet shaper we use, so the pings would be 30-50 and all of a sudden 600-800. So I brought it down due to the high latency caused by the packet shaper in the game. Anyways I think I can get it classified now on the packet shaper, I just have to wait until the guys are done testing with the machine I want to use. If I can get the machine I would be more than happy to host a full time AT server for yall. Keep this thread up to date on the servers people are trying to host, if none of them turn out any good I will give it a shot.

On another note, I am all about the scout. This game is the hardest game ever to shoot in, but the shots you make are so rewarding. Leading a guy 100 yards away, pulling the trigger, and seeing his body flip back is awesome. I have dedicated a lot of time to being a scout and I am about 50% accurate. It is definitely something I am improving at, it just takes time. I agree with the fact that, that rifle should be one shot one kill. If you were to compare snipers to that of CS, it is all backwards. The AWP (from CS) kills one shot almost everywhere and its a simple gun to use. On the other hand the Springfield doesn't kill in one shot unless it the head (I believe) and the gun itself is 100 times harder to use than the AWP. Just a few hints for others (and please share some with me if you have some): 1. If you can always kneel or lay before you shoot. 2. A good way to see if you actually got a hit with the rifle is to hold the fire button after you shoot, it keeps you scoped and you can see if the body has been hit or even sometimes where you hit the wall or ground. Being able to see if you hit too far in front or too far behind helps to determine your next shot.

Also isn't the token/ticket variable a percentage and not a set #?

I currently own the full version of the game, I bought it at EB on the 12th I believe, maybe the 13th. Anyways I heard that EA wasn't enforcing CD key authentication to play online or maybe there was a crack for a way around it. Or if there is a crack, does the server have to be cracked as well for the cracked clients to play on it? I personally would have bought the game either way, I played the demo and enjoyed the hell out of it. My belief on purchasing software is if you support the companies that make the good games, they will release more good games. CD key auth. isn't that hard to enforce, especially for the big dogs that made this game. Sure you can crack the single player version but IMO that is 25% of that game. Its all about multiplayer which the people that paid for it should be rewarded with. It will be sort of depressing to see the guys in my office reap the same benefits that I am but at no cost. BTW this is just an inquiry I am not trying to start something with this portion of my post :)

I thought I read somewhere that no matter how accurately you aim, the sniper rifle will miss 25% of the time. So the best ANYONE can be is 75% accurate. And yes thats with laying down (going prone) and shooting at a non-stationary target.

travisio that would be kick ass if you can get a server up on that kind of bandwidth. Any chance you could throw up an IP for people to ping against to see how well they would do?

I like the scout, its my second favorite behind the medic. I just get so annoyed how body shots with the rifle just hurt the guy but don't kill him. Limb shots shouldn't kill, but body should. Neck/head already do one-shot-kill.

I think the problem with leading people in aiming is made even worse with the sniper rifle. Unless the target is motionless or running in a straight line to/from you, its pretty damn hard to do anything.

Be sure to update us with the status on the server.
