I think I've decided to wait until someone I know buys the game and tests it out before I put down money on a product that I can't return without a fight. If it really went gold so soon after the MP demo release, I can't believe they've fixed all the problems with it, and I'm NOT going to buy a game KNOWING that it requires patching for serious issues just to reach a basic level of playability. If the MP demo was actually a much earlier build of the game and not so recent before going gold, that's fine, except I doubt that's what happened (and there'd be little point to that).
As for TKing, I refuse to play on any server that has friendly fire turned on. That at least makes TKers have to work for their kicks. If I find a server has one person who likes to blow people up on his own team, I make sure I play on the other team. If I can't avoid them, I leave the server. People that get their rocks off from preventing other people having fun just go in the category of People Who Are F'd In the Head and Don't Deserve My Time. The only way I'd play on a FF server is if it was with people I knew and could reasonably trust not to TK on purpose (I'm 50/50 on whether I think it's a good "realism" feature or whether it detracts too much due to accidental killings).
One "strategy" that royally gets my panties in a bunch is parking the carrier on the edge of the map. Nobody wants to be the one having to protect the carriers since they can't get many kills that way, but that is what the game is intended for, strategy, not frag-festing. Unfortunately I don't think the game will be played as a strategy game, it will be just another first person shooter fragfest, as is already seen by the fact that nobody will defend flag points, they only go to try to kill more enemies. (Of course, the limited number of players makes real strategy nearly impossible. And realistically, 4 AA guns that can only hit a plane when used by a perfect shooter makes the carrier essentially undefended. Not that anybody seems to remember that the destroyer's entire reason for existing is to defend the carrier.)
