So far it's not that spectacular. Kind of bland. Like Obama generally.

Outside the 150 billion in alternatives no specifics. I wanted a 10 point plan for this country instead we get a standard Obama speech.

Obama might be a great speaker but he still is not in the same league as Bill Clinton.

I didn't realize that was going on. Here I am watching Lost Boys on Bluray. Jack Bauer, as a vampire, in high definition. BO can't match that.

I'm surprised how far he went in attacking McCain.

No specifics as usual. It sounds good to many people I'm sure, but it has no substance.

I'm very surprised so far... he comes across as a little angry at times.

The intro video, though, was very well done...

Angry? Listen to his wife.

Like all his speeches there is no substance. I love how they are playing country music and bringing out the family to reach out to those people who "cling to guns and religion".

I thought it was ironic that he claimed that McCain was in the senate for 26 years and did nothing on energy independence while ignoring that his VP has been in the Senate for 36 or so years.

I enjoyed it -- but there's no way it lives up to the monstrosity of hype that the campaign created for it.

Promising too much. He'll be lucky to accomplish 10% of it. Be more convincing if he was more realistic.

And did he really say "When you have no record to run on, you make people afraid to vote for your opponent"?

I know he meant this as a jab at McCain, but since he mentioned this after spending the first half of his speech doing nothing but attacking McCain, it seems it is more applicable to him.

Yea, that is going to be thrown back at his face big time.

The other day, David Plouffe said that McLame has a 5% chance of winning the election if he doesn't win Colorado.

If that was speech also served as an organizing event to get out the vote on November 4th, I think McLame is in trouble.

I think he said Ohio was a toss up and Virginia was very close.

I think Biden completely took Pennsylvania out of play, made Michigan a long shot, and Ohio I think it is too early to tell. Gotta to see how polls change after Biden has been in that state directly interacting with those Hillary Democrats who said they would either not vote for Obama or would vote for McLame.

He is one hell of a good speech giver.

But once you get into the details there were a lot of things that you can question. Need to find a copy of the speech and then can break it down, but there were perhaps half a dozen to a dozen things he said that can be out right questioned.

The reality is there are basic huge differences in that Biden HAS supported assorted measures to address issues such as increasingly the average MPG of cars during this period, while McCain has generally opposed them. A single Senator can't simply change everything on his own, and shouldn't really be expected to.

The reality is the low fuel efficiency of most cars around right has public long term consequences beyond those born by the buyer of the car and the seller at the time, and that was simply not sufficiently considered by those opposing increasing fuel efficiency standards earlier.

Probably accurate. Without Colorado McCain relies on swinging either MN or MI; I don't think he has a shot at PA or IA. McCain could win NH but that still doesn't give him enough EV.

On the other hand, McCain winning MI creates a whole host of problems for the Democrats, and MN too to a lesser extent.

There are always "things that you can question" in a candidate's speech, particularly when you don't like him.
