My roomate said Adema wasn't very good live, can't remember but i think he said Alien Ant Farm also sucked. Chevelle was amazing live however. Staind was also good. Linkin park was ok, hard to hear vocals though. STP sucked. Scott is a freakin wierdo, he wore a 12 inch rubber wiener and nothing else.

I haven't seen him personally, but I have a video of him in concert and I think he sounds good. A lot rougher than in the studio, but I still enjoyed the performance.

STP's better when Scott's all drugged out.

You're smoking crack....they're awesome live....they're my favorite band to see live besides Green Day...Billy Joe just knows how to get a crowd into it.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers sucked pretty badly live.

Some of the better live performances I've seen are Incubus, Dave Matthews Band and Jack Johnson.

Ive seen Chili Peppers live twice and both times they were good performances....

Big fan of Incubus... Definitely perform live well.

ah. my favorite type of question... let the ripping begin.

I've been to quite a few concerts in the late 90's...

Bands/artists that sucked big time live, in my experience: Rednex :) , East 17, Moby, Michael Jackson (the 1997 tour) - really tired rehash of old songs... yeah, and Boney M and Sandra :) plus one-hit wonders like Capella...

On the other hand, one of the most amazing performances I've seen was Boy George in 1990 - he had a power outage backstage, all the instruments, mixers and amplifiers were dead, so he just took a guitar, sat on a chair and sang acoustic songs... he was SMOKIN' !!! He earned my respect that evening.

Maybe if you are talking about pop or rap crap that relies on taking people with no talent and doing a lot of engineering to get it to sound good.

But you have obviously never seen live performances by Carlos Santana, Bob Dylan (ok, he sucks if he's stoned), The Grateful Dead, Lyle Lovett, B.B. King, The Allman Brothers, Metallica, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, or The Rolling Stones.

Blink is so bad live it's not even funny. Tom can sound OK but the other guy - Mark, is it? - that guy can't sing at all. It's like they don't have monitors or something.

Best I've seen so far has been Linkin Park, Staind, and Incubus.

I actually heard that Linkin Park sucks A LOT live..

he just can't get his vocals the way he does on the cds..

i've never seen them live but someone who has told me so.

I heard Fuel does a really good lives show..they were at my school 3 (i think...maybe 4) years ago.

Only band that I like the CD, but thought they sucked live was Smashing Pumpkins.

I have one for the other way, awesome live, crappy CD, Cody Chesnutt. I saw him with The Roots a few years back, he was AWESOME live. So I bought his CD, The Headphone Masterpiece. What a piece of crap CD. He literally recorded it in his beadroom by himself. I do think if it was recorded in a professional studio it would be good though.

Blink 182 is the first one that comes to my mind...

Green Day is usually decent.

Any others?

You've got it wrong. Blink just plain sucks. If you like them, kill yourself.

Obviously your opnion is fact, right?

I've never been a Blink fan but I thought their new self titled album was pretty good.

Yes, indeed it is fact.

Liz Phair

I love her CDs but she sounds awful without lots of layered vocals. Not much stage presence either.

rappers usually sound pretty stupid on stage... they dont get the same flow. its just a bunch of guys yelling into mikes. i heard fiddy and gunit do 'in da club' at the brit awards, and it sounded pretty stupid.

Nah, just Axl sucks....the band actually can really play.

As far as bands sucking live, let's see:
All Rap "artists". Exception: LL Cool J. Tore it up on MTV awards one night with "I'm Gonna Knock You Out".
All others, I've never heard one that was anywhere near the album unless they were lip synching. 15 people on stage, every one with a mic, and none making any sense.

I notice a lot of people mentioning Blink 182 and 3rd Eye Blind. I've seen both recorded live on TV and they sounded like crap. If they sound like crap on TV, when they've had the chance to improve the mix a bit, then they must really suck live.
3rd Eye singer was particularly horrible. Couldn't sing at all. Their albums must have lots of studio magic worked on them.
Rolling Stones are very sloppy live....Jagger sings NOTHING like he does on album, totally different voice. Still a good show, though.

Good bands live: The Who. Still the best live sound I've ever heard. Van Halen. Go see them this summer and you'll see. Cinderella....sounded VERY good.
Britney Spears sounds just like her albums live.....Oh wait, that's the album they're playing...she doesn't sing. :)

I thought Something Corporate was decent. I saw them at The Tabernacle in Atlanta, though--not necessarily the best venue. That guy (can't think of his name) just goes crazy on the piano.
