okay, I was REALLY pissed when my friend told me "All chinese are bad drivers" when me and him are both Chinese, but come to think about it....
I have 3 HK friends, all 3 got in an accident within the 6 months after they have their license.... 2 of the 3 became much better drivers, and the other guy still kinda suckie. I got in a accident too. and I admit I am stiill a careless driver.

since I am Chinese so I can't really make an unbias statement here for this topic,
but i'll cut the bullsh|t and here's my point.

Asians (immigrant primarily) are more aggressive drivers. In Asian we all life in a faster pace, we walk faster, talk faster, and probably would die eariler too since our life is so tense. it SEEMS every second counts even though it doesn't, but I could say that me and my 3 friends just want to get from Point A to Point B ASAP.

and to be Political Correct, not ALL Asians are like that as I discribed above.

and yes, I still suck @ // Parking:|

<< Most people know that asian people are "often" generalized as being POOR drivers. >>

I honestly never knew that but now that you mentioned it. I was at a red light around 14 years ago waiting for the green when all of sudden I was slammed into from behind so hard that the impact pushed me forward into the the car waiting also pretty hard too. All of us were taken away in an ambulance and I had over six month of rehab. And the driver, an older Asian gentlmen that didn't realize the light was red and that there were cars stopped at it.

The body shop dude said I was lucky to be driving an old Chevy Impala cause if it was any thing smaller...I wouldn't be here talking to him right now.

i'm asian and have been driving for about fifteen years and have only been in 2 accidents. Both were not my fault and both were non-asian drivers. I believe it's a misconception that leads people to think this way because when someone notices a bad driver and that driver happens to be asian, then it re-enforces this belief. Like someone stated earlier, if someone of another race does something wrong we regard them as being @ssholes.

I use to commute 70 miles a day to go to school and I've noticed that it's usually not the asians that are bad but more often than not, it's a caucasian driver in a big pickup truck or suv. They seem to like to cut people off without signaling and it seems that they do this because they have a bigger vehicle and they can do whatever they want. If they were asian people will say they are bad drivers but I just think they're being @sses.

Well, that sometimes happens during turns if you're using a left foot braking technique when driving a manual.

<< Fiction

Anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot.

All you ignorant @$$es who voted yes are obviously too cowardly to post about it.
>>

Gee, give us ignorant @$$es a chance to post. My employment requires me to spend a considerable amount of time on the road. I am often in a position to witness the direct effect of traffic collisions (TC). It has been my experience that some drivers of certain decents, have a greater degree of difficultly in handling an automobile. I attribute it to the laws/driving customs of their countries. But the fact of the matter is - a great deal of them go Boom Boom.

Edit: Can't tag to save my life

I've heard a couple of people mention this.
How does this technique work? Why would you want to be on the gas and the brake at the same time?

I don't think that any one group is a worse driver than any other, but I do think that people need to be aware of the rules of the road and common courtesy.

As a caucasian who drives an SUV(Chevy Blazer 2-door, 4wd) :D I will say that I'm probably in the minority of folks driving correctly, but I suspect that's because a) I paid attention in driver's ed, b) my parents were both good drivers and wouldn't let me get my license until I was 17, so I got lots of experience on a learner permit, and c) my dad happens to work as a safety engineer at GM. ;)

I really wish the police would start pulling people over and ticketing them(fines, no points) for minor offenses: like not signaling when changing lanes, trying to hurry thru the yellow(or often red) traffic light, and not accelerating to traffic speed on the on-ramp for a merge into traffic. I figure just observing the rules for those three items would cut down in the number of incidents of "road rage" and accidents.

Oh and one other point(as a northerner - ie, someplace where it often snows), driver's ed ought to involve practice driving in winter weather as well as summer! I'm certain my counter-parts in Wisconsin, Minnesota, the Dakotas and other points north will agree. ;)

They're crappy drivers because they don't have any peripheral vision, hehe..... Man, I guess they really only have 10-20% of the vision of other people! Could that have something to do with it?? Or perhaps their lower than average heights restrict their views as well??

OMG.....that is plain ignorant. Peripheral vision is the abilty to view the areas beyond the liner line of sight. Your obvious insinuation that Asians have small eyes have absolutely nothing to do with peripheral vision.

Go back to the cesspool you oozed out of you troll.

BTW I think this utterance was the funniest portion of his post.

RoninRXN: you learn that left-foot-brake from Inital D huh? :)

anyway, I have a question,
as of now, 55 voted yes, and 53 voted no.
however, most of the replies seems to be from the "No" ppl.
what happened to the "yes" ppl? why aren't they saying/replying anything?

I have two explanation:
1) some of the "yes" ppl are ignorant, immature morons who can't think of anything logical and sensible to say.
2) some of the "yes" ppl do have valid reason but don't want to get involved with such "flamy" subject.

I hope its 1).

you must be bad at science or something, a small hole in your eye lets in light, not the entire front of the eye. no ones eyelids are so close together that they obstruct the hole. no ones eyelids are far enough away from the front of their eyes to block light the way you probably think they do.

I don't mind racism, I mind stupidity. Some stereotypes are mostly true and I welcome them (Slanted eyes, except some regions), some of them are not true but have a reasonable origin (Asians are good at math due to immigration procedures and reaction to the historical bash of intellectuals, or eating dogs). I had no idea there is a stereotype like this all along out of all the stereotypes I could come up with this one is the most absurd, I've seen too many instances that beats this stereotype to pulp that to me saying asians are bad at driving is like saying black people are bad dancers, germans are not nazis, southerners are not rednecks, of course these stereotypes are not true, but at least they all have origins. Nobody ever explained to me where asians are bad drivers came from. I'm very surprised.

I'm an asian fucking flew small airplanes (not saying it's that hard) and was told (only me) that I am natually good at it. I drove for years without a single accident, never been pulled over, yet when I stepped on my brake when I'm 30 yards instead of 35 yards away my racist friend tells me I'm a "rought driver." and telling people in front of me that I'm "not very good at driving" because of a dent in my car that's from the car's previous owner. Stupid people pisses the fuck out of me.

myth: A friend of my laughed and said "dont they drive horse carriages in China"
fact: no, they drive cars, and more people drive luxury cars (benz) than here in the US

Myth: Asians are slow drivers.
What I witnessed: Every driver in China are best described as a cross between a racecar driver and a fighter pilot, driving head on into traffic at 60 mph then swirve away at the last minute is not something you watched in action movies, it is an everyday, every 15 second procedure, and surprisingly they do this all the time one after another without ever getting into an accident. And the best is they do it with this baddass not give a shit attitude u see in movies everytime it seems like they just escaped death, but they do it so much it's routine.

Asians are dangerous drivers:
Give me a real statistic stating asians have a higher accident rate. When cab drivers stop, they do it so smooth you can't feel a jerk.

In china there are rows of parking spaces in parking garages where you HAVE to park in reverse, not only that you have to park so your wheels align with the rear stoppers perfectly, people do this all the time - try seeing that in a western parking lot.

All my experiences made me think that in order to get a license in china, you must be trained to the level of police drivers here in the US, it is ridiculous. Everytime I'm in China I'm almost embarrased to admit to people that I have a driver's license in the US. When people ask me if I have a driver's license, I say yes, in the US. I feel like I'm saying "Yes, i was an olympic athlete, in the special olympics."

maybe it's an asian american thing, although I'm not sure what that reason might be, but it certain doesn't reflect ANYTHING I've witnessed in China haha.

Some of the comments in this thread are so ignorant. Some of you guys need to get out more, travel a bit and educate yourself.

Back to the topic, bad drivers are everywhere, in every race, in every income bracket/creed/gender/background/etc. They are just like virgins on ATOT, they never go away.
