I don't mind racism, I mind stupidity. Some stereotypes are mostly true and I welcome them (Slanted eyes, except some regions), some of them are not true but have a reasonable origin (Asians are good at math due to immigration procedures and reaction to the historical bash of intellectuals, or eating dogs). I had no idea there is a stereotype like this all along out of all the stereotypes I could come up with this one is the most absurd, I've seen too many instances that beats this stereotype to pulp that to me saying asians are bad at driving is like saying black people are bad dancers, germans are not nazis, southerners are not rednecks, of course these stereotypes are not true, but at least they all have origins. Nobody ever explained to me where asians are bad drivers came from. I'm very surprised.
I'm an asian fucking flew small airplanes (not saying it's that hard) and was told (only me) that I am natually good at it. I drove for years without a single accident, never been pulled over, yet when I stepped on my brake when I'm 30 yards instead of 35 yards away my racist friend tells me I'm a "rought driver." and telling people in front of me that I'm "not very good at driving" because of a dent in my car that's from the car's previous owner. Stupid people pisses the fuck out of me.
myth: A friend of my laughed and said "dont they drive horse carriages in China"
fact: no, they drive cars, and more people drive luxury cars (benz) than here in the US
Myth: Asians are slow drivers.
What I witnessed: Every driver in China are best described as a cross between a racecar driver and a fighter pilot, driving head on into traffic at 60 mph then swirve away at the last minute is not something you watched in action movies, it is an everyday, every 15 second procedure, and surprisingly they do this all the time one after another without ever getting into an accident. And the best is they do it with this baddass not give a shit attitude u see in movies everytime it seems like they just escaped death, but they do it so much it's routine.
Asians are dangerous drivers:
Give me a real statistic stating asians have a higher accident rate. When cab drivers stop, they do it so smooth you can't feel a jerk.
In china there are rows of parking spaces in parking garages where you HAVE to park in reverse, not only that you have to park so your wheels align with the rear stoppers perfectly, people do this all the time - try seeing that in a western parking lot.
All my experiences made me think that in order to get a license in china, you must be trained to the level of police drivers here in the US, it is ridiculous. Everytime I'm in China I'm almost embarrased to admit to people that I have a driver's license in the US. When people ask me if I have a driver's license, I say yes, in the US. I feel like I'm saying "Yes, i was an olympic athlete, in the special olympics."
maybe it's an asian american thing, although I'm not sure what that reason might be, but it certain doesn't reflect ANYTHING I've witnessed in China haha.
