I would occasionally use the turbo button back in the day for those poorly built games that would go into super-overdrive on faster hardware. After the turbo button went extinct, I got by a bit longer by disabling cache memory to play the older games - that alway caused a drastic reduction in performance, usually enough to get those games to play at normal speed.

So what does this turbo button do? I remember having one and randomly pressing it.
The button was likely never connected to the motherboard, that was very common to do later on.

Had a PC with a Turbo button that was always on.

Also had a Radio Shack Color Computer 1, which had a turbo poke.

*raises hand*

486 DX/2 66, with the green LED display that showed 66, and would go down to 33 if you turned turbo off. When my dad was buying it, I insisted that the computer had to have the LED display and the turbo button.

Ya, we had one on some computers when I was in high school. Had that sucker lit up while playing Gorillas during math class.
