I had one of those too, IBM model 55sx or something like that. Only one with a turbo was a 75mhz Blue Lightning we had for a little while, last I knew my father still had it, powering a home-made weather station he setup.

You just had a case with a turbo button if it was a 486. It had long since done nothing.

IIRC, without the turbo button on, the computer would slow down to 4.77MHz, so you could use older games and such. With it pushed, you had 8MHz.

They may have made it do similar things into the 386 days, but I'm not sure.

With the Turbo button @ 66MHz on it was impossible to play One Must Fall.

Yea? Hmm... I must be wrong. I thought it was only for quite early computers, even though it seems that most AT cases had them.

My HS radio station had a computer with a turbo button that they were using as a CD look up machine. I don't think the turbo button did anything. I do remember the computer running Windows 95 and using an AMD K6.

I have a pentium 2 at 233 mhz. When you turned off the turbo button it would say 33 but i always knew back then that it was just turning off the 2
