It was good, but a few too many unintentionally funny moments... I could buy the mini-Anakin filled out to David Prowse size due to cybernetics idea, but Vader at the end looked like a teenager in a Vader suit at Halloween to me :Q He had the voice, why couldn't they give him the bod?! It might of made the Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo part a little more believable, too :p

He had that "Oh sh!t!" look for a little bit until Anakin showed up.

I'm going to see this as well but let's be honest. It doesn't take much to surpass Eps I and II.

Better than I and II, but the acting was still wooden, the dialogue still sucked, and it still seemed like nothing more than a bunch of clips slapped together involving characters that are supposed to be part of a group but have no apparent bonds whatsoever. Lucas seems to be incapable of writing a prequel with a story that is more than mud puddle deep. He doesn't expand much, just throws in a bunch of visual effects and fills in stuff based on what was talked about in episodes IV, V, and VI.

Bummed me out about Mace. He was one Bad Mutha Fvcker!

But, nice to know he was defeated by Anakin's betrayal, and not just in a duel with Palpatine.

Man, I was thinking about all the additional stuff they could have done. Some stuff just dragged on too long while other stuff was cut way too short.

i like how they wrapped up a few plotholes...

the story that palpatane told anakin about Darth Plaegis and his control of the dark side... should finally put to rest the plothole of "how did the midiclorians conceive anakin?"

Darth Plaegis had total control of the dark side, and could even influence the midiclorians to conceive life.

The actual time between 3 and 4 is 24-28 years (at least what I am reading). According to the books, there was a prototype death star built to test engines, lasers, etc... that was then moved to a newly developed research base inside the "Maw" which was a mass of black holes orbiting kessel. After that they built the full main one, though you have to remember, it is 120km in diameter and houses well over a million people so it will take a while to build. Funny thing is the wookies did alot of the construction as slaves and were known to try and sabotage stuff whenever they could, maybe they added that dumb exhaust port... ;)

Also Leia got her princess title from Bail Orgaana as his daughter. She was princess of Alderaan.

Yeah the whole time scale is a little bit off I think but..eh its a movie. Like at the end..the mother is like 20. In episode four she looks like a grandmother and yet only like 18 years should have passed....also all the ships look totally diffrent in the span of 18 years? eh thats being anal tho :)

The ships actually look remarkably similar. The precursors to x-wings where Incoms early prototype and then prodution fighter before the T-65 came around. Incom bascially joined the rebellion and their main staff when into hiding so they could make the x-wing and eventually the e-wing fighters. The star destroyers look almost like the victory and imperial class destroyers we see in 4, 5, and 6.

The thing that is wierd to me is that supposedly at the hight of the empire they have over 25,000 star destroyers. Even if they were all victory class (smaller than imperial) thats still over 10k people in each. 10k x 25k = 250,000,000 people! Thats a huge navy, not even including the stormtroopers...

And yes, I am a nerd who loves the SW books (I have about 70 of them at home) but I'm married, have a good engineering job, and dress pretty normal so I figure it's all good ;)

And something to remember is that the original trilogy where NOT back-to-back episodes. There were a number of years between IV and V, then between V and VI - it's entirely possibly 20 years is a pretty decent estimation for *completion* of a Death Star. It's a big damn ship!

Interestingly, the movie does tie in with the book "Labyrinth of Evil" (mentioned above) MUCH better than the cartoon. At least one event in the book is specifically mentioned in the movie, the introduction of Grievous makes more sense, and Anakin and Obi-Wan's relationship covers more ground.

It's really, much, much better than the first two. I'd maybe even place it above 'Jedi'. Maybe. It's really quite good. Yes, the dialog is still....awkward at times. But, it's 100 times better than the previous efforts. In fact, I'd go as far to say that the dialog is no more awkward at any point than what we saw in the first "Star Wars" or "Jedi".

And the acting is also substantially improved. Hayden still grates from time to time, but not nearly as awful as in II.

Honestly, it was the action sequences I was least happy with, and I don't know why. I think John William's score rather fell flat in this one, which is utterly tragic, as the sequences themselves were pretty darn good.

I also wish Anakin had managed to lose his lightsaber prior to the battle with Obi-Wan at some point and had needed to build the trademark red blade of the Sith. Watching a 15-minute long duel with both sabers the same color...just didn't have the same visual impact.

And the duel....I dunno, think I hold the duel with Darth Maul at the end of Episode I as the 'best in the series' so far for just overall coolness, visual effect, and music score. Indeed, even the opening duel with Darth Tyranus was more interesting than the Anakin/Obi-Wan fight (oh, how I wish that was longer!!)

Dude, it's all of a few dollars to go to the movies. Don't get all UncleMoneybags on me complaining about how expensive it is to go. Dig in the cushins of your couch to find enough change for the movies and just go see it.

Renting it may save you half the cost of a movie ticket, but you're losing 90% of the experience by not watching it on a monsterously large screen with eleventy billion jiggawatts of perfect sound quality.

I thought williams score was awesome for the movie as a whole. I did not like all the action scenes that where quiet, that really bugged me, but I thought he tied all 6 movies themes together beautifully. Everthing from dual of the fates to luke and leias theme, man he did a good job!

The music also got better as the movie went on, that whole first quarter was kinda... lacking...
