Here is one thing I would like clarified. This thread got locked because it wasn't about love or relationships. It wasn't exactly a babe thread, but I thought L&R would be more appropriate since pics were involved and all.

Are we basically banned from discussing if a woman/man/gorilla is attractive outside of the babe thread?

I am not trying to stir the pot, nor am I trying to make the Mods jobs harder. ATOT is mostly a male population and males tend to talk about women. If posting pics makes a thread a babe thread, fine. Say no pics and vacation anyone that does post pics. But when we try to post in the correct forum, and the threads get locked because they aren't exactly about love or relationships, it makes me think that AT (or Derek) is afraid of us discussing women at all. Even my Amish relatives will nudge the guy helping him milk his goat if a pretty girl walk by.

I don't want anyone to stop visiting AT because it might not be worksafe. I also don't anyone to stop visiting because they might be banned if they talk about any member of the species that happens to have breasts.

Loosen up the rules in L&R, tell the 13 year olds to just ASK THE CHICK OUT ALREADY and then maybe that subforum will actually get some traffic.

I agree, this is getting pretty ridiculous. It's getting to the point that if the thread involves a woman + a pic it gets locked. What the hell kind of crap is that? I miss the old AnandTech Off Topic forums. What exactly are the mods or anyone in power exactly trying to prove here? Are we against the female form in general? Do they think that women are being objectified? Can an attractive female not be talked about without fear of the thread getting locked?

Oh, but wait, we can weed through a 15-page thread in the L&R forum to post a simple picture of a woman who is wearing normal clothes (not even a bikini) and just happens to be attractive. :roll:

If I want to post a thread about Natalie Portman starring in a new movie and post a link/pic to her in the movie, I have to worry about the thread getting locked or I have to post it in the L&R babe thread? I mean, WTF?

And what the hell -- we're trying to protect people who are surfing at work? If your dumbass is surfing ATOT and clicking links in threads with women in it, you deserve everything you get. It shouldn't be AnandTech's job to protect someone using a work computer for anything other than work.

I replied that it probably shouldn't be locked and instead edited by the Mods in an attempt to keep it on topic and out of babe thread terriority.

Where's the logic in using a 15-page thread to talk about a current event involving a single person.

What if the mods said if you want to talk about religion, it can only be in ONE thread no matter what -- and that thread stretched on for 20+ pages.

As for Anand, he has bigger fish to fry than worry about babe threads.
