Just came back from the Midnite 3D show - was awesome. My first 3D movie. Didn't think the effects were overly done - it was enough just to submerge you into the movie.

Also, Avatar is pretty much FernGully, but that's not a bad thing.

Definitely worth seeing.

Dude... Ferngully.... I watched that so many times as a kid. Now I am going to have to check out Avatar, but only after the crowds die down.

Are you guys the same type of people who thought Dark Knight was one of the greatest movies ever? If so then I can wait.

Dark Knight was okay, but it doesn't compare to this imo. I had written off 3D technology before I saw this movie... I didn't feel it was a gimmick in any form, but it provided a subtle but immersive experience.

Maybe it's different on the big-screen, but in the previews the effects look lame and cheesy and the plot is, at this point, a rehash of several other ideas that seem far better implemented. I probably will pass on this thing.

Trailers and TV spots cannot possibly convey the visual quality of the film since it was specifically designed to be seen in 3D.

Anyone waiting for video will of course be disappointed for the same reason. This is a theatrical experience...end of story.

There appear to be several digital 3D locations in Windsor. Though if you were a real Canadian you's suck it up and go to an IMAX. 😛
oh ok i'm such a movie newb, i thought 3d meant IMAX.

i'm not a real Canadian, the rest of Ontario pretty much considers everything west of London to be part of Detroit. :awe:

Heck no. I probably won't even see it when it's released on BluRay in a few months.

BTW, I've got a fever, and the only prescription is MORE POLL! 😛

Are you one of those guys who is anti-popular? If so, then you can probably pass on this to increase your street cred.

lol you win the thread.

"i dont like what the topic of the thread is about so i will go into it and let everyone know that i don't like it."

No IMAX in my immediate area, so it's D3D for me tonight. It's funny to see all the anti-hype comments in ATOT this past week, I'll reserve judgment for when I see it.

To be fair, the thread title is in the form of a question. Nothing wrong with answering no to a question, and neither is elaborating on the answer. There are as many people sucking off the movie in this thread as there are that don't care for it.

And no, I won't be going to see it at midnight. Or in a theater, unless someone gives me free tickets.

Going to an Imax 3D showing tomorrow, hopefully nice and early. I'll report back in my movie thread.

KT

hmmm, near us the film is shown in 2d, 3d and "Avatar: An IMAX 3D experience"

the description says digitally remastered from IMAX... wth does that mean?

all tickets are 9.50 and $7 before 3:00pm, maybe i'll go tomorrow for the 11:50a showing

bahahahhahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahhaha

?

Western (white) people and their evil corporations enslave a minority race (blue) and pillage their planet for resources.

I know some people cant look past the shiney objects and see actual messages in movies, but you have to keep up here.
