Haha, I'm getting suckered in by all of the good reviews. I was so not interested for the longest time, but now I feel I need to see this in the theatre.

Maybe it's different on the big-screen, but in the previews the effects look lame and cheesy and the plot is, at this point, a rehash of several other ideas that seem far better implemented. I probably will pass on this thing.

The price is a large reason why 3D won't become mainstream anytime soon. Good article on Avatar and 3D movies in general in last months WIRED magazine.

I'm guessing you're about 50 million high on that estimate I'll BM this, but bet that it will do 60-80, probably about in the middle of that.

Just came back from the Midnite 3D show - was awesome. My first 3D movie. Didn't think the effects were overly done - it was enough just to submerge you into the movie.

Also, Avatar is pretty much FernGully, but that's not a bad thing.

Definitely worth seeing.

I'm just going to say that was the most amazing experience I've ever had with a movie. It was my first 3D movie, and I'm definitely going to see it again. The technology behind the whole thing is very amazing to me, and I couldn't believe how fast 2.5 hours went.

I just got back from a regular showing of Avatar, no 3D for me. It was a very very good movie, and the special effects did not feel contrived to me, rather they had a reason to be there in order to serve the purpose of the story. I might see it on IMAX 3D as well ....
