availability of everclear (no, not the band)

I was curious which states everclear (190 proof alchohol) was illegal. My wife and I want to make some limoncello or a similar orange liquer and most of the recipies call for everclear. Now, they almost all say vodka can be substituted, but first I wanted to determine whether everclear was availible in Washington state. If not, is it illegal to transport it in from Canada or another state? Thanks for the help

P.S. if anyone has a favorite limoncello recipe or other citrus liquer recipe they want to share feel free 🙂

I have about a 1/5 left of the TN moonshine from my wifes Grandma 😀

Good stuff. I have no idea as to am answer to your question though.

All I know is everclear is legal here in NC:beer:

If you can't find EC vodka works just as well in jello shots.

Hey, could you post the limoncello recipe you're going to use? I had some in Sorrento and loved it.

just do a search on google for "limoncello recipe", there are a ton of hits. Alot of them say to use grain alchohol which is pretty much everclear as far as I know.

My wife and I have a small 12 oz (or close to that) bottle from Naples we are drinking right now, but even at our pathetic pace it will be gone in a month or so and we wanted to try and make some. I am still having trouble finding what states everclear is legal in though.

Can't find a good site listing the legal states, but I know it's legal in Michigan now...we could just start a list 😉

Cool, thanks. Sorry I couldn't help with your Everclear search.

It's legal in IL, and knocks me off my feet. I got wasted off that stuff my first time at a friend's party mixed with koolaide and that'll never happen again.

Don't mess with that stuff, even if you mix it... it's strong stuff.

lol, to clear things up neither of us are heavy drinkers, we have not even gotten drunk yet in our lives (though there is always tomorrow...) so shot taking is out of the question, though I would imagine that at 190 proof it would tend to be a bit... um... strong.

Anyway, the limoncello made from everclear is stronger than the italian stuff, but not by a ton and it is only sipped, at least by us. 🙂 In my opinion it is too sweet to take as a shot. So, it is legal in oregon, which means that becomes an option (portland is like 3 hours south of seattle, right?). Anyone know about Canada?

ok, well, I found a site that sells everclear but says it cannot ship it to pennsylvania, washington, oregon, or california. This would seem to say that it is illegal in those states but bockchow said you can get it in oregon, so there is still hope

I've purchased it in Nevada before. But that was on my 21st Birthday, 15 years ago. So I don't think I can give an accurate determination for a purchase. 🙂

That said, we used half a bottle in the biggest watermelon we could find. Cut a small hole in it, poured in half of the evil liquid, and whala! 17 people drunk off their butts, standing under one of the towers during the Reno Air Races! Damn, that was fun! (Guess who got the entire center slice?) 😛

I guess I am a wee bit confused... does the watermelon absorb the alchohol and then you eat it when it is saturated? if so, that makes for one super powerful melon

It's legal here in Wisconsin - intravenous is the way to go. 200mL and you should be all set.

JOKING, people

Holy crap, yes I'm back 🙂

It's been an interesting couple of years, but hopefully now I'll be checking in more often 🙂

It's right on the shelf at the ABC store here in NC. Also have some on my shelf as well....along with some moonshine, and apple brandy.

Everclear is illegal in a lot of places. You can get in Oregon tho, and drive it up to WA (at your own risk). Of course, most of the time, you won't get "everclear" but you'll get "clear spring" instead. Its identical stuff, but the liquor stores in oregon (they are all controlled centrally by OLCC) dont always carry real everclear. Apparently its not in great supply, but clear spring is.
