nice. The more I think about this car, idling at 1200, and revving up to 8.5k on a V10 as quickly as it does (what is the torque range, actually?), it just has to be the funest damn thing, no?

F1 guys are shifting at like 11k revs on their honking V6s and eating up battery for burst needs and what not--I bet this thing is just a bit more, uh, analog fun, no?

Not saying downforce is comparable and all that, but this really is a "cheap" legit supercar. It's also what you pay Ferrari $375k+++ for these days, basically?

Not sure what the torque output from the engine only would look like on a graph. This is the spec for the AWD performance trim level:
Maximum Horsepower @ RPM: 602 @ 8100
Maximum Torque @ RPM: 413 @ 6700

It does rev very quickly up to redline. Very much different response compared to most American V8s (except the LT6 in the new Z06).

The sport exhaust on my new R8 is much louder compared to the much quieter base spec version in the RWD. After 5K RPM the exhaust valves open wide to give it that supercar scream. It also does tons of pops and cracks getting off the throttle at high RPMs.

Does your car make the Snap Crackle Pop noise the RS7 makes? Is it a high pitched one, or the deep i have muscle *Flex* snap noise?

I almost ended up buying that car because of how awesome the exhaust note was.
The only car i think which has a better exhaust note is probably the Lexus LFA and the Porsche Carrera GT.

Not familiar with the RS7 sound. I believe it uses the same engine as the Lamborghini Urus. In that case the R8 V10 would sound better. Both through the entire rev range and on decel with the pops and bangs.

My new-to-me R8 is a '21. Did some research and apparently Audi quieted down the engine sound for the final years '22 and '23 to meet stricter European regulation. Even with the same sports exhaust option. Guess it's good that I chose a '21 as a replacement.

I wonder which part survived that led someone to pay $17K for the wreckage. The engine I guess might be rebuildable.

When I sold the car, I imagined it going to a nice family on a farm with plenty of space for it to live a happy life where it could play with other R8s for the rest of its days.

This 2022 R8, even with it being a no-option base RWD, is one I'll regret selling.

There won't be another car like it. People are realizing that. Prices have been holding steady for the past few years.

Why sell it then?
You're very lucky to have such an amazing car ,especially a V10 version!
Very envious 😉, still, I'm not without my fun toy, I've got a 2008 M3 🙂, no plans to sell it! Had it nearly 6 years now.

PS Sad about your old car 🙁

You're dealing with a Bond-level villain right here. The dude you sold it to is just buying up all the V10 base R8s to destroy them, such that his collection of 4 R8s exponentially increases in value
