What I love about this thread is the screeching mantra of some of the posters here. APE=BLACK!!! APE=BLACK!!! Like anything is life is that black and white. (ZING!!!)

Clearly some people are determined to find racism everywhere.

With these types of reactions they keep focusing on the supposed gross racial inequality and will never rise beyond it. The good thing is that NAACP doesn't represent the majority opinion of the black populace, though.

They've given the public what I asked for.

They investigated, said the cartoon was not intentionally intended as racist, and that they apologize for the cartoon as a mistake for (implied) its appearance of racism.

So, the defenders of the cartoon can now argue with Murdoch.

He was a public offical and even though he sent the email from his private account, he was still an elected public official. He messed up. I personally didn't feel he messed up bad enough to have to quit but apparently he did. Que Sera, Sera.

I have to wonder why Nagin never had to resign for his chocolate city remarks? Fair is fair, right?

Mayor claims he didn't understand the use of watermelons for racist stereotyping. What did he *think* the picture's joke was then?

I wasn't aware saying a city was a chocolate city was a widely used slur against white people. Two different things here.

Does this Mayor (a duly elected official) represent all the people of the city of New Orleans or only the "chocolate" people? Sounds like a racist thing to say to me.
