Also someone will have to do the solo, I don't really feel like doing it :p

I'll be tackling it but keep in mind you can just make up whatever you want. It's kind of lame to copy a solo note for note anyway :)

I'd love to hear your take on it, make it your own!

I upped a version of a new mix without drums. I cut the drums right when the guitar starts so that you can have something leading in when you load it in your DAW. Project 1 minus Drums Just remember to record your drum track(s) seperately.

I also upped a new mix. I brought out the fuzz during the chorus parts and the outro, but backed it off for most of the rest to clean up the mix. I also removed the reverb from the entire lead and retracked the outro Riff and added a little delay to give it a fuller, more epic sound.

Project1 A3

LMK what you think of this new mix.

Rick, really glad you cut some of the fuzz down to only be during the chorus parts but it gets a tad bit lost in the mix. I was going to suggest you do that because it does get a tad bit busy, but I think it needs to be louder in the mix. Love this new version! I like the reverb cut too.

I agree it needs to be louder in the mix, I love how it works with the chorus and you really can't hear it well enough in this version. I also fixed a couple little flubs in my Bass track, but I still need to retrack the lead to see if I can play some of the passages a little cleaner.

I'm still not completely sold on the outro Riff, sounds like it could use some harmonized "Ah's" or something to really "sell" it. :) I'm loving this tune, thats for sure!

Yeah I'm really digging how it turned out. I had two really good 'riff ideas' in their and I feel like they're finally feeling cohesive together. Your lead riff is pretty interesting, there's a pentatonic in part of it but you go a lot further beyond that into some really cool areas. I was noodling with it last night trying to see what you were doing and it seems like you're quite all over the place with it. Has a really cool minor feel to it!

I like the 120bpm too, I think it fits really well with the mood of the song. It's a very dark mood. I am thinking of adding a slapback delay staccato bit somewhere in the middle, not sure yet. I'd love to have someone do drums for this to add some diversity.

The first solo starts out with the A pentatonic scale, moves up the A pentatonic minor and then back down to A pentanonic "basically". I think the key to the solo's vibe is I use this little h/p lick using the open D and G strings to string a couple passages together (its also the part I'd like to clean up a little because I fubured a couple of those licks) the timing on the drawn out bends (didn't quite nail a couple of those either) The other solos I tried out went to a higher position, but I liked the one that stayed down lower much better.

The drums will be 4 separate tracks. Kick, snare, overhead left and overhead right. That work for? ;)

Since the thread is a little slow, here's a little teaser of Fairies Wear Boots that I'm working on.

It's pretty short part of the intro, shorter than ixelion's earlier effort.....not much, but its something :D You can hear my guitar's tone, I think I'm close to liking it :)

Nice! maybe a drum track to Plat's song ;) ?? It would be awesome to get a complete song worked out.

Things seem a little dead in here, but I've still been working out FWB. Here's a little teaser Text LOL, I know its pretty short :) . I did slow the tempo down slightly on the backing track (it seems a touch fast to me) and I think I'm pretty close to a good tone for the guitar.

Maybe we need a couple more projects going to keep people interested? Something? Its cool with me if we are low key and such as long as the projects are still active....It wouldn't hurt if somebody else bumps the thread up every once in a while or even linked up something they are working on (doesn't have to be related to the projects) Its only been a bit over a month but there's only been like 3 contributions thus far....

Here's a new mix for Project 1 (Original song)

I added a little wind effect to the intro and brought out the fuzz in the chorus (maybe a touch too hot) I also changed the ending very slightly with some echo delay.

Take 4

6:33 12.0MB stereo 256kbps 48KHz 16bit mp3

comments please;)

ATOT bandmates please check in :)

Hey, where are we at folks? Nobody has really commented on my last 6 or 7 samples or mixes I've upped (good or bad) and no posts at all for more than 3 weeks :(

Am I wasting my time here? I'm actually pretty close to a complete cover of Fairies Wear Boots (at least the guitar parts) even though I've been busy as hell lately.

anyway....If anyone is still interested, I'll take the time to finish off a rough cover and get it upped in the next few....seriously, just LMK if ANY of you guys are still onboard, and that'll be good enough for me to keep this thread alive.
