Alrighty Howard! Thanks for replying, looks like we can keep the ball rolling

I'll go ahead and try to finish up what I have so far with Fairies wear boots over the next day or two and then get it upped so you can get the right tempo and timing (I slowed the tempo down a little from the backing track that is in the project folder)

Sorry Rick, I'm still here.. I wish half the people who said they'd contribute would have though, same thing happened with my thread last year.

Shit is really busy for me right now but I'll work on getting some guitar parts for the Sabbath tune

Wait, is the track you're using different in tempo from the youtube videos?

Totally cool, I'd like to have more contributing members also....and we didn't even actually complete a song last time IIRC :p I understand the busy too, its been an eventful couple months for rbV5:confused:

anyway, I don't mind so much as long as I'm not completely alone....I'd just add it to my own music thread if that were the case. I do like the songs we're working on and I'll just go and fake it through a couple solos I haven't quite wired yet on FWB, so as to save a little time and get something other than some short bits up.

Hey, and anyone that isn't real comfortable with posting something up for everyone to point and laugh at, PLEASE just fire me off a PM and we can figure something out to get you onboard ;)

Seriously, we can get just about ANYTHING to work in some fashion or another and as long as its not some kind of joke post, I WILL INCLUDE SOMETHING FROM EVERYONE IN EVERY PROJECT THEY MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TO and you will be recognized for your contribution :)

Yea, I don't have a backing track off the Paranoid version unfortunately. I think the backing track in the project folder is from a live Ozzy version, and I slowed it down a little to make it closer to the original version, but it still doesn't match up exactly and the songs are of different lengths in addition to being different tempos. I did add Ozzy's vocals (from the Paranoid version) to the track I'm working on to help start the Riffs and leads on the right beats...but's been a bit of a PITA...your vocals would work better because there would be no drums or Bass in the background (thats the distracting part), so I could fit them into the mix "pretty" close.

In any event, everything will likely have to be retracked anyway to make a final. Hopefully, I'll have a rough draft of the complete song in the next day or 2, its cool if you want to wait for that, or just go ahead and post it up and I'll see what I can do?

I'll just wait. Better to work off one version.

Sorry, I've had some personal stuff come up thats preventing me from working on the project as much as I'd like:eek: FWB is giving me a little trouble as well, I'm having a little trouble getting it worked out well enough to submit something... the timing between the vocals and the riffs in particular has been giving me fits:confused:

I'll try and get back to it as soon as I get a chance, in the meantime, to bump the thread, here's a frentic little number I threw together this morning. I'm just playing a couple guitars over a backing track...enjoy :)

Ok, I had a little time to work on the project this past week and in the spirit of keeping this ball rolling at least a little....... its rough and the mix is pretty crappy (the second solo is particularly craptastic).....and it needs to be retracked..etc, but here is a rough draft of the complete Fairies Wear Boots with all the elements.

I'm using the backing track in the project folder. We need to get contributions for all the parts. Bass, Guitar drums and vocals. No need to do the entire song, just up what you can and we'll get them worked into the mix.

FWB draft1

OK, I did a pretty sloppy job on all the parts, anything you submit is almost guaranteed to improve the tune. :)

anyone working on the drums? Bass? guitars? How about the original tune? anyone?

Nice! Yea, covers are very difficult for me. I think its good for my playing because it forces me to play ouside my comfort area and really points out the weaknesses in my playing.

I've been playing around with a TV theme song cover, I think it might be a good project for this tread, short but sweet...I'm going to try and get something up in the next couple of weeks (I think a few more projects might draw some more participation?)

Lateralus is a time signature nightmare. Poly rhythms galore. FRICK. Its frustrating but I'm getting it.

6/8 -> 9/8 -> 8/8 -> 7/8 -> 5/8 -> 6/8 guitar + 5/8 drums UGH

NightDarker, we should collaborate, let's get something going!

You should post your two tunes here in track form so rick and I can mess with them :)

How'd you like my vocals to Faries wear boots? ;) LOL, I sang it through my amp cab mic.

If I don't get some parts to mix in soon, I'm going to retrack the whole thing myself and call it good enough....:p

I've been awful about recording stuff this summer, it's been too long :(

I definitely want to add some parts to the BS track, I have a perfect tone for it w/ my semi hollow dimed.

Oh yea, I agree...it needs help, and is just sitting there waiting. It took me awhile, but I've got all the guitar parts worked out complete now. I wish we had a proper drum track though, the backing track we're using pretty much sucks. I may tackle the Bass part myself too. Oh, and Ive got a proper mic now.

I've only had a little time to record this summer myself. I have some ideas that I got stirring around, so I'll be upping some things soon...I'm also going to try and catch up and up some of the seperate tracks.

Awesome, what kind of mic did you buy?

I have a few ideas for new tunes rolling around too, problem is I get frustrated trying to program the drum parts I want for them and end up putting shit on hold because I actually want to play, not dick around with computers :|

I need a British amp, ugh.

I picked up a Sterling Audio ST51 large diaphram FET Condenser. Obviously, I'm not a vocalist, but it seems to be a great mic for <$100 new. Works real well with my accoustic also.

Yea, I hates programing the drums too. Ezdrummer makes pretty easy to drag/drop drum parts, but its no substitute for a real drummer :(

Anyway, I'm getting alot of my summer projects finished up and back playing a little more....stay tuned :music:
