I could play my acoustic guitar, but I don't really have any good way to record. Maybe I'll post a crappy recording from my MP3 player later. :p

by all means tear it apart, this was a fleeting idea I put down on paper so to speak in 3 takes and about 60 minutes.. I always like input from other musicians considering I have to craft everything myself (and I'm a shitty drummer :) )

Can you speed it up about 20 bpm? It's a good beat but it's too slow. Makes it sound like I'm playing in slow motion :)

it's a slow song, it's meant to be monolithic and building

I'll try and speed it up when I get some time this week

If you want to do that, maybe try the light and shade technique:

Start upbeat, then do a breakdown in the middle to add a slow and moody part, then speed it up again. It makes for an interesting listen and adds a lot of texture.

I've updated the OP with the current 2 projects we are going to get started with. You guys are getting ahead of me so I just threw up a rough edit with Platypus's links for the original tune, and a couple youtubes of the studio version of "Jack the Stripper (intro) / Fairies Wear Boots" Make sure you check out the vids to see the version we are working from.

I have some time today, so I'll read the posts to catch up, and then get started putting together the project on my site. I'll update the OP when I get it ready.

wth happened to my OP edit?

I'll post the backing track to the OP I have that I found on the net somewhere. It has Bass + Drums, but its missing the complete intro. Its OK for jamming and working out he parts though and we can go from there.

Update;

Posted the Backing track to the OP

Here's a little snippet of something I'm working on with Project 1 (original material) to keep the ball rolling ;)

Its ~ 1 minute section between 2:34 and 3:34. I dig that section and I added another guitar to give it a little more punch

LMK what you think.

Nice rick!!! I LOVE the bass you added to it, that's the kind of punch I am after for sure!

The lead riff is very sabbath, I dig it a lot.

that kills, you should record a bass track for the entire tune and we'll just dump mine, I hated it anyway.

I am working out a Bass line to add some double Bass in a couple sections....however you're listening to YOUR Bass on this section:D....I played with the mix a tad to get it a bit heavier;) (I like your Bass part btw)

I'm working on FWB, so thats where my mindset is currently ;)

LOL, I seperated the stereo Bass track into 2 mono tracks and fixed the panning. I EQ'd both Bass tracks cutting everything below 40Hz and a lowpass filter on the highs so that the Bass could stand out from your guitars tone (which I don't want to lose) I then sent part of it to another bus and put a touch of chorus on it - Bingo, nice Fat Bass without mudding out your guitar.

I seperated and added a little compression to your guitar, but no EQ and no effects.

awesome, see I dont have any cool tools to do that kind of shit and I have no idea where to begin on that. GarageBand doesn't offer a lot. I need to get different software methinks. I'd love for you to show me some stuff sometime :p

Is the satellite compatible with Pro Tools or Cubase? I really don't know much about satellite's or Mac's for that matter... but that's what I'd look into :p

I think the drums are a bit quiet in that mix Rick but other than that it's great!

Yea, I'm using Sonar and its has an extensive feature set. I'm not sure how it compares to the other softwares, but I'm used to the workflow. Too bad Portland is all the way across the country from Chicago.

Its compatable with any ASIO software.

I agree, I just wanted to up that part because I thought it was cool. I probably won't spend too much time on mixing until the parts are worked out a little more...I've got a couple sections that need a little work, but maybe I'll up a couple more little snippets in a bit.

I might have a couple parts of FWB to up in a day or 2. I've got some of the riffs "roughly" worked out playing with the backing track, but I had to split it into a bunch of parts so I don't get overwelmed since I didn't know how to play it.

awesome, yeah that bass sounds fucking killer man, I'm very impressed with the results of your remix. I really need to get better software.

I'm curious to hear my bass part at the beginning which has the higher up fret parts.

The intro is ~ 1 minute. I'll go ahead and play around with that section a little and post it up...might not get it today, but definately soon.
