OK, here's a complete version of Project 1. I added some lead guitar + a Bass track to Platypus's tracks and then remixed all the tracks.

The mix isn't all that great and its only 160kbps to save on file size......and I'm not real happy with some of the leads, but hey, it's a start :)

Proj-A1.mp3

LMK if you like the idea behind the leads and such.

crap: had it linked wrong I guess...should be correct now

I love it Rick! The mix is great and your lead is stellar, I'd love if right where you come in lead wise where it goes up once if the next time it went down a note from the main bend you're doing. Does that make sense? Otherwise it really really fucking rocks, you've outdone yourself this time for sure.

I dig the swirly guitars on the chorus a lot, is that a chorus effect (no pun intended)? I think it gets a little saturated towards the second chorus though

I really like the leads actually, aside from the bass I think that's definitely the best improvement to the tune. The van halen esque one was ok but felt a bit out of place at the end there. The fuzz track kind of gets lost in the mix a bit, I can hear the panning but it sort of washes out the fuzziness a bit.

Overall it's great Rick, I'm pumped and have tons of new ideas to work with!

If its the first lead before the first chorus, I think I know what you're talking about. I'll retrack that part with some changes, maybe I'll do a couple variations.

I dig the swirly guitars on the chorus a lot, is that a chorus effect (no pun intended)? I think it gets a little saturated towards the second chorus though Its a delay effect (Cakewalk FXDelay) Yea, I agree, I think the underlying lead goes once or twice too much too (in that section)

I really like the leads actually, aside from the bass I think that's definitely the best improvement to the tune. The van halen esque one was ok but felt a bit out of place at the end there. Yea, I should have just left it out completely. I had the octave styled one come up a little short, the finger tapping was considerably longer, but I didn't care for it that much...so I just shortened it way up...should have just left it out The fuzz track kind of gets lost in the mix a bit, I can hear the panning but it sort of washes out the fuzziness a bit. I had trouble getting the fuzz track into the mix without it just sounding like noise...most of it is gone in that particular mix. I see what you mean about the end after I listened to your original....see plenty of work to do yet :)

Overall it's great Rick, I'm pumped and have tons of new ideas to work with!

Thanks for the encouragement! Glad you likee :D I think it'll be a keeper when its all said and done:thumbsup:

at ~ 4:14 in the second chorus, you hear the lead dive during the change from D>G#...makes that change sound killer, I think I'll work that into the rest of those changes and see what it sounds like as well.

yeah I'm very impressed Rick, that is some kick ass stuff. It's awesome to hear different perspectives on something you wrote and that's really what this thread is all about and the project in general. I hope others start to contribute more, even if its just suggestions. Let's get involved people!

I did a little remix of project 1. I dumped a little of the lead and brought out the fuzz part so you can hear it in the mix.

still a work in progress ;)

Project A 2

How about a little chatter from some of the rest of you guys!

LMK what you think :)

Not yet, I kinda got wrapped up in the other tune. Shoud have something pretty soon. We are foloowing the studio version like the links in the OP...if yo want to work from that? A drum track for the original project would also be cool. We have some stuff already worked out that you could work from ;) We'd love to get someone else involved.

EDIT: Sorry ixelion, I thought you were talking about a drum track , a guitar track would be awesome.

Shit Rick! Great job so far. Can't wait until I can contribute something. Where did this drum track come from? When I get back home, I'll need the song without the drum track in it. It's a ways from now and this song could be totally done and something new will be on the horizon .. but whatever.... I'm just letting you know :p

I programmed it using loops. The raw samples are provided already in Rick's post, just don't mix in the drum track.

I believe it was a backing track Rick found on the web. Can't wait to hear your guitar parts

I'll just mix a couple tracks, one minus drums, maybe one minus guitars as well.

Yup, I found it on the web. It would be nice to get a new Bass + Drums as well, but we can just work off that backing track and go from there, replace those parts as they get get redone.

Need not do the entire song to get started either, there a several distinct sections so anything would be cool.

Here is what I've been working on so far, this is just a sample once I get real tracks down I'll post un-mixed waves so you guys can mix em in however you want.

I think there are timing errors, I didn't practice this much and it shows.

I am using amp simulator as well but I think I will re-amp through my Fender tube unless you guys don't mind this tone.

Awesome! Good start, yeah there's a slight timing issue but I dig the tone actually. Sounds good through the amp simulator, esp for being un-EQ'ed.
