Lets tentively go with those 3 and mull it over for the next couple days while I work up the details for the OP. That'll give us plenty to work with for a while :D

I like Sabbath too

Excellent...maybe you could start working out some of the drums for FWB? my Backing track isn't exactly Butler/Ward if you know what I mean;) I'm going to start working out the guitar parts (I don't know how to play the song other than the basic riffage at this point)

At least be thinking along those lines, I should have some of the details concerning files and such in a couple days (I'm at work this week, so I can only spend a little time untill Wednesday or so.

I think I got the basic riffage figured out as well. Never heard this specific Sabbath one before, so I guess we'll see how it goes.

Platy I'm having a hard time with the untitled2_1 one. Can't get anything I like down on it.

If by odd you mean cool, I concur  I'll be playing around with it next week myself;)

OK, here's what I'm thinking;

For each project, We'll prepare a "project pack". I'll zip up associated files together and make them available on the OP for download. Lets use mp3 compression to keep the file sizes down a little (unless someone has a better idea)

For a cover song, as an example, the pack would include Guitar and Bass tabs, Guitar Pro GP5 file, Lyrics, aong with an mp3 Backing track and perhaps an example mp3.

For original material, a text file with the tempo, time and chord progression and mp3 backing track or example mp3 track.

Hopefully, I can work out some private ftp access for uploads, otherwise everyone can just use one of the variety of free file hosts available and pm me with download details. I'll host the project files and everyones tracks and set up folders for the projects that everyone can access. I have a fast internet connection, so no worries about getting files up and down for me.

LMK if that sounds cool, or if you have any ideas to help get this train rollin'

That sounds cool to me. But like I said, I can't do much until I get home for summer break (May 1st.) With that said, my buddies and I usually just start jamming to find stuff we like. It's easiest for me that way. But since we can't do that here, I guess the easiest way to do it for me is to hear something and add to it rather than create something on my own (this applies just to drums, guitar is different.) Then again, if it's a cover... I can do the drum track for you guys to add onto. For an original I would have to go the other way around. Now get posting some damn ideas! :p

No problem with that at all, we're in no rush and I'd like to get alittle more life out of the thread this time.

I won't have much until at least Wednesday after I cut out from work for the week, but I've got some irons in the fire ;)

I hope those irons have some bluesy licks associated with them. Some nice, hard, Buddy Guy type shiat. But really, it's all for fun. I guess I'll play almost anything. (Count out the cover of 'Moby Dick' though.)

Didn't you also do a Mississippi Queen cover? That's the one I recall anyway.

I'm back and forth on the first part of the "new" part, but starting at ~2:37, I think it really starts working and I'm digging it quite a bit from there on out:thumbsup:

Damn, now that I think about this more and more it's getting better and better. :D Can't wait to see how the NT-5's put out. God, they are such a beautiful piece of equipment. I'm tempted to upload some of the little jams that my buddy and I have done at school here. Might spark something onto one of your minds, who knows. :p

We won't have too many. If we get alot of participation, we'll just start up more projects to work on so that everyone has something to play around with. We won't just stick to rock or metal either, we'll put up some Jazz and Blues numbers maybe some Reggae and such :)

Yeah I struggled with how to bring it in for the first time. I settled on the off beat with a little cymbal crash on it. It doesn't quite flow yet but the overall ambient nature of the riff works really well with the heavier rhythm section... I just have to figure out a better way to tie it in.

I'll upload and post them when I'm out of classes at 4PM est. It's basically all screwing around and going back and forth with each other. I've tried to "master" the tracks a little bit in Cubase, but I'm no professional so it's not great. Better than nothing though. I learn as I go.

Yea, that's because this was all done at school. I brought up my firepod and a couple of cables to record and try to learn cubase more. It would be kind of hard fitting a kit in this room.... :p

Here are a few tracks that are just over 2 years old. They are just parts of improv (ie screwing around). The vocalist / guitarist is my nephew and I am on the drums Some days we would do something that sounded cool, other times we would have garbage. These were some that I thought had some promise.

fight-right
This one was actually part of a 45 minute session that had this let the demon out theme .... my nephew is sometimes nuts btw :)

Jabberwock
At the time we were playing this I could only hear the guitars, I didn't realize he was doing the Jabberwocky poem until after we were done. Very rough around the edges, but lots of promise as a song. notice the changing beats as we weren't sure where to take it.

Unforsaken Wonder
This one had a Sabbath then Doors feel to it. Again was total improv both on lyrics and music.
