I'd jump on that move in a hurry if I were him. Austria wouldn't be my first choice but at least it is in Europe and you'll never run out of little side trips. I just wish my transfer to Spain at my last company would've worked out. I bet they regret it now.

Why is that?

Why is that?

The consolidation project bombed and they had to back out and 5 years later, they're still nowhere near being consolidated. I volunteered to move over for 2 years but due to political infighting, they refused and suffered as a result.

Well, as a counter, its regularly over 100 in southern California, the gun laws fucking suck (at least you can own one though,) there is smog, and its really expensive to live, even inland its a lot more than most places.

It can get over 100 here, but that's only 10 times a year or so, not regular. I'd rather 75 to be the mean/mode/whatever temperature. The gun laws in MA are pretty terrible too, but we can, if your police chief isn't a Nazi, get concealed carry, which I believe is impossible in CA. COL... well, whereabouts are you? MA isn't cheap.

COL from a suburban town 25 miles from Boston is about the same as living inside San Diego city.

Austria would be pretty high on my list. IIRC, they have an amazing library too. London and Paris don't intrigue me all that much.

I've been to a lot of amazing cities in the world -- Rome, Milan, Paris, Barcelona, Seoul -- and (reluctantly), I'd have to say Paris is the best.

Well, I live in Riverside county, its actually possible to get a concealed carry. Gun laws aren't THAT bad I guess, you just have to wait for any handguns.

They were trying to pass something where you couldn't buy more than 2 boxes of ammo per month, but luckily that didn't pass

That's one of the things that's always bugged me a lot about CA - the gun laws.

Also, the high taxes - I'd guess probably not much higher than MA.

And the people! How crowded is it? Is illegal immigration really a huge problem?

Speaking of foreign women, the best I saw by a long shot were in Brazil. Not shocking, I know, but there wasn't anyone else even close.

A salary of $50,000 in Banetown, Massachusetts could decrease to $42,264 in Riverside, California

I think your list misses out on London, Berlin, Jerusalem, Moscow, and maybe Tokyo, Sydney, and Brisbane.

Well, the freeways usually suck, there are some places you can go where its more spread out, and not so packed in.

Property taxes can suck a lot in some areas, HOAs in a lot of areas, sales tax is around 8%.

There are illegal immigrants in lots of places, and its pretty obvious, but nothing is done about it 99% of the time, and there is actually a huge backlash any time they deport people.
