Trade offs I guess :hmm:

Advantages of Banetown, MA:
NE/Boston sports!
Nearby NH awesomeness.
Fall is pretty cool.
No illegal immigration.

Advantages of Riverside, CA:
Comfortable "winters".
Similar or lower COL.
Things to do/places to go.

Disadvantages of Banetown, MA:
Summer is hot and humid.
Politics are insane, corrupt.
Gun laws are draconian.
WINTER!!!!!
Traffic blows year round.
Taxes.
Did I mention the winter?

Disadvantages of Riverside, CA:
Melting in the summer.
Politics are deranged.
The people are nuts.
Taxes are higher.
Sports? What sports?

I don't like Arizona. You still get the illegal immigration problem (if anything, worse), plus the whole state is hot, dry, and burned dead.

*sigh* Someone is asking me questions about chemical storage procedures. I can't answer these questions.

I'm finding one small silver lining to Banetown, MA... in the aspect of moving.

In terms of COL, it's more expensive than more than 90% of the country. Ergo, anywhere else I go is going to seem cheaper.

I think your list misses out on London, Berlin, Jerusalem, Moscow, and maybe Tokyo, Sydney, and Brisbane.

I've been through Tokyo but don't really count being there. There were actually a lot of cities I've left off my list -- I only gave the highlights. Paris is an awesome city and you won't run out of things to see/do. Heck, you could spend 2 full days at the Louvre and still probably not see everything.

Seoul is awesome in its own right and I regret not seeing more of it. It is the second or third largest metro area in the world IIRC and it is basically like being in Manhattan. If not for the hangul writing everywhere and the people, you'd think you were in New York. It was interesting to be in a place where I was an obvious minority, however.

Guys, the best thing to do IMO is to find a job in a place with low cost of living, as your standard of living will be higher than an "expensive" place and with the money you save, you can travel anywhere you want.

Maybe if southern CA would just split off and adopt the political views of, say, AZ or NH... :awe:

Make the cut off at LA county, Orange county/Riverside county/San Diego county and Imperial county could make a new Southern California State....

That would be perfect.

I have little to no interest in being a minority in a city to live in.

1) High COL location, the company usually ends up paying you more to compensate.
2) High COL locations are usually more interesting/appealing. Larger cities, more people, nicer weather, water access, et cetera.
