Is this just general salary or for a specific position?

I need to refi my house so bad, I just want a lower rate, but since I've never been late and the value has gone down so much I can't.

I think he is just plugging in a generic salary ($50K) to compare various cost of livings around the country.

This is why I love Indy -- it is so freaking cheap to live here and the city is nice and clean. Sure, I don't have oceans or mountains nearby, but with the money I save by living here, I can go visit them often and still bank extra money.

Real estate prices in this area are awful. Then we get shitty weather, abominable traffic, and the list goes on.

I had a friend in college who went to work for Dolby in San Francisco. A buddy and I went out to California on vacation in 1999 (before I was married) and we met up with him and he took us around the city. He took us to Palo Alto, where there was a house for sale. The house was a run-down, 1950s style boxy ranch house. He said "Guess how much that house is selling for?" A house in that condition in Indy, at the time, was probably a $60K-$70K house. In San Fran? $450K IIRC, and that was in 1999, well before real estate peaked there.

Yep. There was a Google Maps link around here a few months ago showing a ghetto area in SF, houses literally touching each other, a road that looked like dirt, and a few guys dressed as "gangstas" working on a car on the street corner, one of them flipping off the Streetview car. The house being sold was $300k IIRC.

My aunt and uncle live out in the Bay Area. I haven't seen their house in ages, but it was basically a classic cape design. No basement, a first floor, and a smaller second floor. The house was probably... 1100? 1200? square feet. The lot was a quarter acre or less. The whole building is pretty run down, because they don't do maintenance to it... and it still is going to be worth 800 to a million.

kinda fixed my parent's HT... waiting on them to finish watching something. Then back to work on that.

Fixing their print server issues. Possibly bought them a new router
