Ok right. What threw me for a loop was this statement of yours:

"In windows I have two cards running. One with the game the other with monitors and crap."

I pictured it as having all 3 monitors up and running at the same time with the game playing on 1 of 2 IN SLI and the other monitor still showing a desktop. That didn't make sense to me :p

ah sorry. It's late :\

Headed to bed. Later folks! Have a nice evening

It is in the same room. I turn my computer off at night. Trying to save money on utilities. Brought our bill down from $110 a piece to $70. My gf's apartment (next to mine) doesn't have a HT setup or large computers and her bill was $68. I think we're doing good.

I love the noctua it's awesome. I have yet to OC my i7... Need to get around to it

I turn my main PC off every night and discontinued my HTPC last month to cut down on heat and electricity since we don't use it (I did P2V it, though). The big drain is my 24/7 server and I have been considering getting rid of it next year but can't decide. I guess it depends on whether or not I get this PM job I am applying for in the next few days.

I'll probably end up replacing it with a small box with four to eight 2.5" drives. CPU isn't terribly important but RAM capacity is.

I really think the Indy Star might be the dumbest newspaper in America. Why on earth would you publish this picture?

Because you don't have standards as a paper? You want to sell papers and are willing to publish anything that catches people's eye.

OC'ing time. First the CPU

2600k should be able to reach 4Ghz easy with hardly any effort on stock cooling. With some tweaks you should be able to go much higher even on stock cooling.

I got lucky with my i7 970, got a good bin. It hit 4.2 first attempt and I hardly had to do anything at all. Didn't even bother to push it any higher as this is good for me. :D

My 920 can get to 4.0, but it takes some serious effort. Simple methods won't even yield 3.2. The thing is a picky son of a bitch.

Chain rule... another formula to memorize.

Pain to memorize, but the only real skill involved is partial differentiation.
