I think the cats understand that the raccoons will eat whatever kibble is left so once it starts getting dark, they know it's last call at the buffet.

The black feral is never going to trust me - but there has been quite slow progress. Anyway, tonight I came back from a rare trip to the grocery store. The Singapore rice noodles had some chicken in them, probably leftover from making other dishes. I also got some Finlandia Swiss. So I made a little amuse bouche platter with the 2 items. I suspect the chicken will go over well despite the spices. The swiss is a tougher call but I'm optimistic.

Ah, the multitudinous joys of home ownership. I finally got rid of all of the trees w/in "raccoon distance" of the house. But it seems I have other residents above the aeration grates of the eaves.

The grates are made of aluminum but they seem to be pliable enough for a small animal to bend them enough to slip in.

The question is, what sort of animal. The only thing that makes sense is bats. Long ago I noticed what seemed to be nesting material sticking slightly out from the back of the grates. I was curious but it didn't seem to be an issue. But now a second grate is showing similar signs.

If it is bats and they only stay in the eaves, I'm ok with that. But if they start cavorting in the attic, I will not be well pleased.

I think I'm just going to get up on a ladder and partially seal them. Either that or use some peppermint oil bombs. But first I'm going to position one of the new cams so it has a good view of all 3 eaves in that area. Stay tuned.
