How am I over? Your kit is more expensive?

You are spending only $30 more than I did, yet you also had to pay tax, and had to buy ballasts. The kit you purchased provides savings; the projectors within the kit are cheaper, and the bulbs are cheaper. I, instead, had to piece it together, so I didn't get a kit bundle savings, the bulbs are pricier, as are the projectors.

I'm considering also having my dad's mechanic install an in-dash navigation system and jog lights

Are they next to the ash tray with the fireproof cigarettes?

Never really understood those either.

Then again landlubbers rarely see what real fog is like.

Imagine driving with a bed sheet stretched over your windscreen. Yeah, that's what I thought.

Regarding in-dash navigation.

Garmin makes truly wonderful navs, but... AFAIK, none of them support external antennas, and having an external antenna is a wonderful thing by itself, because it means instead of your Garmin taking 2-5 minutes to lock with satellites, the car's embedded antenna takes less than 30 seconds (less time than the warm up phase takes for the whole GPS).

Then again, your ship doesn't need to worry about a person walking across a street in front of you.

Define your visibility... for us, it means a person wearing blue, gray, or black can be invisible at just a few hundred feet. So you may see worse fog, more frequent fog, but you have a lot less obstacles and maneuvering to be concerned about.

Also, your ship pilots are going to be some of the best around, whereas any brain dead imbecile can get a driver's license.

145 lbs, dear. It's WAY too large for a car operation. The factory antenna in my car is probably a pound or less, gives me <30 second lock, and is accurate to less than 10 meters. And a car is defined by roads, which makes it easier.

We all don't drive bitch cars. 145 pounds? Bring it!
