I have never been in a position to hire someone.

I've been hired to two jobs. The first required no formal application, and I've been returning there for 5-6 years now. The second had an application, but that was a formality, and really, I was hired because of who I knew.

95% of jobs are filled by who you know.

and if you just repeat what we wrote down in the job description, you are the wrong person for the job.

I also like to have people who the new hire will be working with sit in in the interview.

I'm going to ask a question like: How would you react if someone told you that your work looked like shit

oh one of my favourite questions

"what does this organization do and what do you envision your responsibilities are."

That's good. I already have
what does this organization do
The babe thread is suddenly being flooded with chubby chasers.
Yeah... wtf
I usually had long interview questions written down, with diagrams, and let them read them and answer them. Many told me I was brutal.

Brutal is good :D
If it is someone I consider a potential candidate I will become pushy and see how they handle that.
Possible. I like it though

situation based question. I really don't care about the actual answers, rather I want to understand the person's thought process.

There is always the manhole question :p
Good idea
Manhole?

Because of their aerodynamic design, modern racing cars create enough vacuum to lift a manhole cover off the ground. During races on city streets, manhole covers must therefore be welded down to prevent injury. In 1990, during the Group C World Sportscar Championship race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, located in a public park in Montréal, Quebec, a Brun Motorsport Porsche 962 struck a manhole cover that was lifted by the ground effect of the car he was following, a Courage C24 Porsche, causing the Porsche to catch fire, and with the safety issues, the race ended shortly afterwards.[9]

“Tell me about a time when you failed and were able to come out of the situation better than when you went in?”

tell me about a skill you learned from previous experience that would not be applicable here.
