1249 on massdrop just for the fostex

I have the Denon AH-D2000s, which if you didn't know is what the Fostex TH-600 and TH-900s are based off of. Amazing headphones, great sound quality.

Great price for them, BUT I have seen them as low as $1k, so not the BEST deal out there. And you will need ~$300-500 in amp/DAC to warrant $1k+ headphones (unless you already have a good amp).

Massdrop is great for these deals though, I am waiting for the Hifiman HE-500s to have another drop.

I also got my AKG K712 pros from them.

Depends on which AKG

The AKG K712 pros though are probably my best all around headphones. They have great large soundstage, good mids, great highs (but they are bit TOO harsh for the first 50-100 hours of listening), the lows are good, they aren't anything to write home about, but compared to the AKG K701s they are MUCH improved in the bass department.

I find these headphones perfect for media use (movies, music, youtube, etc) as well as gaming (large soundstage helps a lot in FPSs). Nature documentaries at least are also pretty nice with these, the headphones bring out the details that you would miss otherwise, very evident when watching planet earth and the like.

I have them paired up with the Schiit Magni amp and the Schiit Modi DAC, so nothing TOO high end here, but it comes together to sound amazing.

better, much more impact than the HD555s or the AD700s, the K712s while open like the other two creates a better seal around the ear (i am thinking due to the newer designed memory foam ear pads). This allows for a richer deeper bass to the airy sounding bass on the Senns or the AD700s. If you like good accurate bass that isn't over done the K712s in my opinion hit it perfectly. Not enough bass to make your head vibrate, but enough where you can feel it and it's not as "empty" sounding as the others.
