now, I think I'm going to respond to every question with a question and not provide any significant input until I've made him explain to me what he's going to do/what he would do if I wasn't around to hold his hand.

I don't understand why it's so hard to explain to my mom why the wireless connection she has at home doesn't work when she's at her office.

her home and office are several miles apart

she wants to be able to use her laptop at work, but there's no wifi in her building (or if there is, it's heavily restricted)... I try explaining to her why she can surf facebook on her laptop at home but not at work and she just gets lost.

I'm half tempted to tell her to buy an iPad 2 3G with verizon and end the whole discussion.

So, what got missed last week?

Let's see... I found a new political forum. One post an hour, no personal attacks. I guess I owe P&N a thank you. It's so much easier to pick arguments apart now, and everybody else seems sane by comparison.

My chem average is somewhere around a 60. He doesn't scale.

On the other hand, I'm not sure if anyone is passing the class right now. I asked the guy who is probably the best in class, and he said he's around a 70.

I got screwed on a homework section last weekend. He shifted the due date to Saturday night, all the other sections have been due Sunday. I didn't notice the change, and didn't do the section. That alone would give me a few points back on my average.

Calc, I passed the first test. A 95% on the take home section, a 63% in class, total average 76% (yes, worth different amounts).

Unfortunately, that is the easiest of the tests, the next one is this week because he's behind and needs to catch up (there hasn't been enough time for everyone to be ready), and this one will be all in class.

This class concerns me more, because calc is black magic.

Supposedly, if you write down anything in the final, staying through the whole class, you get a C. Well... that's something at least.

I need to pass all three, total 3.0 GPA.

The bright spot is Circuits. First test, 15.5/15, and on the bonus problem, the last page, the prof. scrawled "perfect. you are an engineer."

Sadly, she doesn't control admissions to the dept., otherwise I'd be all set.

Anyways, puts me around a 97 or 98% in the class. If I'm not top grade, I'm at least top five of forty students.
