Anyways, really, the Ravens game is going to hang a lot on how well does Brady play. If Brady plays like he did back in week 3 or 4 against the Bills, we're FUBAR.

Patriots seem to have two draft picks in the first round, one should be sealed (#27 from the Saints?), the other is up in the air still, I'm hoping for #32.

As for what to draft, nothing on the offense. The offense works beautifully, which actually leads me to a divergent point - PAY THE OFFENSE. Take half your salary cap for players, and pay it to the offense. It works pretty damn well, don't fuck with it, and don't run guys off by not paying them.

I hate it when people bring up Montana, Elway, Marino, and all the other old names. I have no way to evaluate them, because highlights and stats are a poor substitute for watching an entire career.

Not to mention rules favor the QBs much more these days.

I am pretty neutral for that game. I have some friends who are Pats fans, but a Harbowl would be awesome.

And it's triaging. If you want to shut down Gronkowski, you need double coverage. If you want to shut down Welker, you need double coverage. If you want to keep Brady under duress, you need a heavy pass rush against a good O-line. If you want to deny Ridley and Woodhead from tearing off quick outside runs, you need close linebackers.

Well, I just tallied up about 12-15 defensive players. Just one minor problem - you only get 11.

You don't really have to double cover all of them, its been shown pretty regularly that if you put Brady down a few times, his accuracy falls fast

It's a good theory, but you need a good pass rush to beat the offensive line, and good coverage to secure the short pass routes. Most teams won't pull that off.

Patriots shifted to a 4-3 instead of a 3-4 to counteract the fact that our linebacking corps is weak, and we picked up a handful of veteran defensive linemen. It's working decently, although none of the DE's is a Freeney or Peppers. Resigning Carter should help.

The biggest issue is still the secondary. Arrington makes a good pick corner, but he's not that good of a tackler - actually, none of the secondary are really great tacklers, or fast enough to run people down real well.

My calves have been hurting since last night, and more water usually helps.

I also managed to jack up my left knee somehow, so stairs are a problem, and I can't twist on the left.

What's your opinion on Alex Smith?

Some people are saying, he is great now, some say Niners need a new QB still.

I think I am of the later camp. But he did look great in the (4th quarter) of the Saints game.
