Why does a HTPC need 12GB? 😱

We have a fujitsu server with a single core Xeon and 512MB RAM running autopilot DJ software and virtual mixing and it runs great. 😱

I am running a few VMs on it for a friend who needed a development lab. He agreed to buy me 8 GB of RAM if I would build the VMs and let him use the machine.

Right now, the HTPC is only being used to record shows and then encode them to WMV. If I ever get an extender to locate in my living room, then we might use it for other things.
