Garcon's gotta go. He's not worth whatever he's being paid. A rookie would be better. At least you know not to rely on them, and it'd be cheaper.

"And for the colt lovers, Peter King surveys the team as in possible trouble of falling back based on current personnel. States they have immediate need for 4 offensive linemen, a receiver, and a safety. Judging by his comments, another receiver and linebacker are also soon to be needs."

Oh my, that'd be quite a list.

He is full of crap with regards to the OL. The OL played better at the end of the season and they definitely need to invest in it, but they don't need 4 positions. At the risk of beating a dead horse, here is what I do if I am Polian:

1. The secondary is their biggest need. They need to cut ties with Sanders and use his roster position on another safety. Additionally, I think you have to start looking at corner. Jerraud Powers is young but constantly banged up, and god knows WTF is going on with Kelvin Hayden. Hayden, IMO, would be a candidate to cut because of his huge contract.
2. OL help through FA and the draft.
3. They're going to need to bring in another receiver. I'd like to see them cut Gonzalez and use his spot on another receiver and if Collie retires, they are going to have to fill his spot as well.
4. Bill Polian MUST use FA. He cannot rely on the draft any longer given that Manning has maybe 5 years left. The Colts need to mortgage the immediate post-Manning future to win titles now.

1) I agree with your assessment of the secondary's problems, but not with the priority order.
2) Okay.
3) This is where I think the priority needs to be placed. Garcon goes, I don't remember Gonzalez, if Collie goes, that's three new receivers needed. Draft one, free agency a couple. Get Peyton some good receivers, pay them as needed, and the offense will cover up many of the defense's problems.
4) Absolutely true. Once Peyton is gone, sorry to say, but your team is totally fucked. The coaching/staffing personnel are failures, the defense is in shambles, and the offense only works because of #18.

I'm still thinking Fitzgerald is the best bet. Moss is done. Somebody on NFL.com mentioned Welker leaving the Patriots, but I doubt Lord Belichick is that irritated with him.

Secondary has to be the priority. That is where we sustained most of our injuries on the D but honestly, I blame much of that on Polian's insistence on keeping Sanders. Had he been ditched, they would've had another safety who may have been able to start. Hayden is also just too unreliable. I'd like to see the Colts go after Champ Bailey for a two or three year deal.

Clark, Collie, and Gonzalez will be healthy coming into next year. Collie is a wildcard and I have no faith in Gonzalez, so I think we need a receiver. Gonzalez was a waste of a #1 pick; he's missed 2 or 3 seasons now. I really think we should've grabbed Moss to help us this year and then next year, use a 3rd or 4th rounder on a receiver.

The bottom line IMO is that regardless of the actual priorities, the draft isn't the mechanism to fix all of their issue. Polian MUST use free agency to grab some prized players. Grabbing scrubs in FA won't help.

As some writer said a couple weeks ago, "the Patriots tried their reclamation project. He's currently sitting in a rented TN condo with a gun in his mouth wondering where it all went so wrong. "

I think you need two receivers, between Gonzalez being MIA, Collie possibly retiring, and Garcon being useless. Possibly three receivers. Moss would've been a bad move. He might be content with Peyton throwing him passes, but a string of losses would set him off again, and losing in the first round would leave him a troublemaker going into the offseason.

Besides, with Welker and Branch, we're doing okay. If Fitzgerald could consistently burn Revis though, absolutely pick him up, and bump Branch down to third.

We might be losing Mankins and Light; Mankins only did a one year extension, he wants a lot of money. Light said he might not return for an eleventh season at the Patriots. They've done a pretty fantastic job all season protecting Tom, but they're getting older, so it'd be good to start replacing them early.

We lived on interceptions, most in the league, but a lot of those have to be luck, and some crappy QB's. (nothing against Manning there, but that's four alone from him IIRC)
