So, is it all fluid? Not "real" weight? Either way, I'm happy with the initial results and I'll see what happens over the next two weeks.
I weighed myself Friday night after working out, and I weighted 220 lbs. Weighed myself tonight after my workout, and I'm down to 215. For the sake of perspective I am 6' tall. My size 35 waist jeans which were almost too tight a week ago fit comfortably. I find myself with more energy in the morning, and less desire to sleep in.
I don't miss breads at all. The only thing I really miss is fruit, I would kill to have a whole cantaloupe right now if it wouldn't ruin my diet. I'm fine with eating eggs and cheese all the time, with occasional chicken. I am going to eat out tomorrow night on a date, and I'm thinking of going to a nice Chinese place and having chicken with broccoli... any problems there? Chicken and broccoli are both on my list of safe foods to eat, so unless the sauce is loaded with sugar I should be okay.
I have never dieted before, but on Atkins I feel like I'm eating better than ever. One minor side benefit is that I'm learning to cook- I never used to cook for myself before.
EDIT-
It's now been a full month. I have lost 10 lbs and continue to lose weight. I feel great.
I have noticed a few things-
I don't really like any atkins branded food. The atkins bars taste worse than any other low carb bar. The atkins shake mix just tastes terrible compared to regular whey protein shake mix which has LESS carbs and no fat.
The only thing I crave that I am not allowed to eat is fruit, mostly cantaloupe.
Low carb milk at trader joe's is great for making shakes, as whey protein mixxed with water just isn't that great IMO.
Eating out tends to feel like a ripoff, because most places I have to throw away some portion of the meal just because it has carbs.
Eggs are still good, some people told me I would start to hate eating eggs but it hasn't happened yet. Maybe because I scramble them in butter, maybe because I rarely ate eggs before I started atkins. Whateever, eggs are good.
Cheese, as much as I love it, isn't so great. It causes constipation and makes me feel sluggish. So I don't eat as much as I thought I would.
Turkey jerky I thought would be a great thing to snack on on atkins, but most brands add suger. It's still something I can eat but not in unlimited quantities. Oh well.
My acne has completely cleared up. It wasn't a huge problem before, but it was there... now it's gone. Nice.
All in all it's working out great, I have no reason to quit until I reach my goal. Not a set weight, I just want to lose enough fat to see my abs. I expect that I will have to lose around 30 more lbs.
