Im not sure how anyone else feels about this topic

my gf and her family are religious of course. i could care less. i feel thats there business or perogative. who am i to tell them other wise.
i just feel i dont wanna believe in a man in the sky or the evil beast down below...thats besides the point.

but why is it so hard to stomach that we dont believe?
we believe in all the same morals that religious believers do.
you know..thou shall not kill,steal,commit adultery, among others.

my experience has been pretty good, as in others i know dont care 🙂 but there are some who really dont like it.
anyone else kinda feel the same, as in its silly that its ok for us to accept them, but the fact they dont accept us
 
I really don't care what anyone believes. It's your free will to believe as you choose. So long as you are not trying to push your beliefs on others or do not discriminate or look down on others for whatever they may choose to believe, I really don't care.

Actually, based on what I've noticed, the real question should be it's opposite: most atheists I've met find it difficult to accept people who believe.

Most religious people don't really feel angry against atheists.

The religious "nuts" you see around try to convince everyone (atheists and people from other religions) to convert to their religion. So it's not really against atheists, but against anyone not a member of their religion.

BTW, I'm Catholic.

This is the opposite of my experience.
 
Except in this country, the relig-nuts try and push thier beliefs on us through legislation. That is unacceptable.

I dont care that people talk to themselves at night, or constantly give money to a false cause, that is thier business. But once they knock on my door, or try and legislate "morality", they have crossed the line.
 
In my real life, very few people know that I am an atheist -- including a lot of my family. They know I'm not the Christian I once was as a young boy, but that's about as far as it goes. It otherwise never comes up, and I never/rarely make a point of making it known.

How dare the relig-nuts try to pass legislation forcing people to convert to Christianity! Or how about that one that establishes Protestantism as the official religion!!!! Separation of church and state!

i really dont care less, everyone can believe in the flying sphagetti monster and i wouldnt care. i simply made a generalized statement. i hear from my gf that her father says we should break up because i dont believe in god..

and how come on this forum all the time.. the OP gets attacked as if i was making fun of someone

I think the better questions are....

Why is it so far to stomach that everyone has different beliefs? Why can't people just live and let live when it comes to what they believe?

Seems that some people these days are out to change others and the way they think. I think its dumb in my opinion.

i think its you who needs to do some explaining before you throw "hypocrisy" out. i was simply saying that society as a whole tends to bend around the religious groups.. laws are made because of religious people... why cant i buy booze on sundays?? because of some religious person.

it is dumb, and that wasnt the topic of my post.. i was asking if others, feel the same way.
i didnt personally attack anyone. i didnt use any religions what so ever. you read about it in the new every now and then, how some atiest got rejected because of there belief. or how some religious nut did something that affects everyone
 
I don't go around telling people in real life that I'm an Atheist and the chances of them finding out are small unless they start preaching their religious views to me then I'll tell them just to shut them the fuck up which usually works.

There are many facets of our lives that we develop deeply rooted convictions.

Just go hang out in the P&N forum for a bit and try to digest that.
