I've added a couple of news stories to start out with, and hope to do this as new news comes out. Hopefully soon, I won't have to update this thread anymore, and everyone checks the site on a daily basis!

Sounds cool. If I can find some time, maybe I'll even contribute some reviews. My next planned purchase is Deus Ex 2, so if I can find the time, I'll try and see what I can do.

Cool idea, the site looks a little dry and serious though.

Wonder what happened to the AT Gaming server...

Thank you that would be awesome, we'll be in touch when the site is 100% completed.

Like blurredvision said, we need help with an ATGamers.com logo ... Please e-mail all submissions to atgamers@atgamers.com, make sure to include your AT username, so we know who to give credit to 🙂

Some of us felt the game discussion was lacking here, so we hope the interest in a gaming only site will be great.

OT anandtechers are a different breed I swear....

Why don't they [gasp] leave the OT forum [/gasp] and post in AT:Software about games?

Do you realize why this makes no sense??

You want to be part of a AT community about gaming using AT members and "AT" in your domain, but don't want to post or at least to facilitate gaming posts in AT forums? All that is needed to have discussions about gaming in the Software forum is to post them!

It's a nice looking site and I'm sure you put a lot of effort into it, but if I bother to be a part of the Anandtech community, I'll post on AT forums to communicate and assist AT members.

And I replied to your post in the Software forum. Geez, you Software guys are a different breed, I swear.......

I wonder how many AT'ers used their AT password when signing up.
If you're worried about someone (i.e. me) seeing the password, I cannot view it, only change it to something new. That, and the database encrypts the password. I'm a trusting guy anyhow. 🙂
I wanted to post this picture showing the actual database, and what I see if I try to view the passwords.

Screenie

As you can see, they are encrypted. Just wanted to ease the mind of any of you who may of been worried.

Do you actually realize you make no sense? Yes, the games discussion was lacking. And so is the Software forum. You don't understand what we are trying to do here, so don't bother commenting on it. This site is for the gamers around here to gather and discuss games and playing them, beyond most of the criticism of people like you.

It's a site where everyone is involved, posting reviews or articles, their opinions, and whatever else they want. It's not just a forum at atgamers.com.

I understand what you are trying to make, a gaming section just like the one that can be found at Firingsquad

You say "The games discussion is lacking. And so is the software forum."
So I ran a search with your username in both archived and current messages. Prior to a post on Dead to Rights fatal error, the last time you created a gaming thread in Software was 03/19/2003. However, you have been active on the Software board asking questions about IE, other programs, and commenting on gaming threads started by others.

I'm not sure why you say, "to gather and discuss games and playing them, beyond most of the criticism of people like you." I don't recall ever criticizing anyone in a gaming AT thread for them playing games or discussing them. I should note I have been playing videogames since my first Commodore 64. What I am doing is questioning the logic of saying no one is posting about games in the Software forum (which they do) and then making a website and using AT to advertise it when in fact you can chat the night away about all the games that you play on the actual AT software board! For example, on your site you have 2 news items posted linked to CNN and another site for console vs. pc debate. Why do you feel you cannot post that in the Software forum?

For your first paragraph, thanks for caring enough to do a search. Even though I've posted a few times, not much goes on in the Software forum. The attention it gets is nowhere near that of Off Topic. It's hard to get any kind of good discussion going in Software, and if you do, it spans a post every couple of days. I'm not that patient 🙂.

As for your second paragraph, I never said you actually criticized anyone. I said "criticism of people LIKE you", indicating you were criticizing the new site. And again, I feel like I can't post anything in the Software forum because it doesn't get that much traffic at all, compared to what I THINK could happen with atgamers.com.

I really don't want to argue, as you have your opinion, and I have mine. We could go back and forth all night and not solve anything 🙂. Although, I hope to see you register and provide your vast gaming insight at atgamers.com. If not, it's our loss. And thanks for the thread bumps 😉.

I would like to thank everyone who has signed up so far, and those who have contributed. This site is doing great in it's infancy. We have 50+ members, and going strong I believe.

I like the "The Future of the Web" slogan.🙂
I'm actually looking into replacing that myself or having someone volunteeer to redesign something for that spot. That was what came with the CMS 😉.

When does this become blatant self promotion, exactly?
Since it is something that is not bringing in money and is there to enhance the AT community... I think it doesn't qualify for "blatent self promotion".
