Sadly this just doesn't really work, with all the talent and skill changes stopping at 70 simply isn't anywhere near the same experience. Nothing is balanced for being lvl 70 vs other classes or even the content. It might be incredibly easy or incredibly hard.

This. Stopping your xp at 70 and taking off the heirlooms will not even remotely recreate TBC experience. With the way talents and class specialization work now you'll be stomping Black Temple with even 10 players.

Damn, that's practically September. With WoD out of gas and the vanilla server shut down a lot of us have precious little left to do in the meantime. By the time Legion comes, WoD will be nearly as old as any other Xpack but more expensive and fewer raid patches.

From the start of Siege of Orgrimmar (September 10 2013) to the beginning of Legion (August 30 2016) will be a little under 3 years--or 1,085 days. 3 tiers in 3 years.

Not really. If people just wanted to cheat Blizzard out of their due they'd be gaming on private WoD servers, not vanilla servers. People such as myself flocked to nostalrius because Blizzard doesn't sell that experience any more. As it so happens though I continued to be subbed to retail WoW at the same time I played on nostalrius.

Personally I wish Blizzard would just be like "Ok, here's a vanilla server. Minimal gm support, bugs and all, warts and all, no class tuning or regular patches. Now leave us alone" I would honestly prefer that over nothing at all, as the money spent on the project seems to be the biggest hurdle for them.

So, I have three WoW accounts under my Battle.net account. The third one is just an old account that I got from doing Recruit a Friend with myself. I received an e-mail yesterday stating that Blizzard upgraded that RAF account to Warlords of Draenor (for free) and gave me seven days of free game time along with a level 90 boost. Unfortunately, I don't think there's anything on that account!

If Blizzard released a vanilla server, I would try it out. I didn't start playing until late vanilla and consequently never reached vanilla end game, though it was watching my cousin raid Molten Core that got me interested.

It would be interesting (to me) if they made a vanilla server (e.g. the exact version from launch), and "updated" it regularly by providing the old patches as if they were being developed. You'd really get to the true vanilla WoW experience. You could even update it through to BC, Wrath, and beyond with the same style (and perhaps release some patches more quickly so there isn't a bunch of dead time between the "new" content).

A lot of the patches were bug in nature, not really content as leveling took soo long that was a considerable part of the experience. When the first dungeon was added post launch, actually the first 2 dungeons, it was more like oh look I've found something else naturally rather than them adding a new thing to do. I mean, who wouldn't like to see instant zeps back instead of waiting for boats at the docks.

The game evolved, it was not preserved in state over the years, true vanilla can't happen.

Decided I wanted to level a toon but really don't want to start at 1. So of course that means DK (or insta 90 for some other class). What's your preference for solo DK leveling? DW/2H Frost? 2H Blood? Etc. I may do some dungeons but not sure at this point.

All of it is pretty OP for DK low levels until the 70s. You pretty much won't die as Blood.

Least amount of content and even longer than SoO dead air time frame.

It gets me more Mythic kills, so...

lol.

We're actually going back to the older WoD raids and doing cheevs now for the mounts after we clear HFC.

Blood is easiest with least downtime, obviously, but I still just DW frost. That being said, my days of leveling anything are done, although I'll level a DH because it's new.

If there's one thing this expansion has been good for, it's gold. I've never had a million gold before this one, and I'm sitting at 8.5 million across my toons now.

Didn't fully read the thread so assuming either in the new alpha patch or data mined.
