For what it is worth, it is probably better to play a spec that is overpowered for months, get groups begging to have you around and then get nerfed to balanced levels than it is to say, play specs that are outrageously underpowered, get passed over in pugs because of public perception and slowly, slooooooowly creep back upwards to something resembling balanced after numerous mini buffs. .

To be honest - I started playing again for the first time since BC when I had a mage, so rolled a new one from lvl 1 about 1.5 months ago. Wasn't really trying to play a FotM spec and looks like I'll miss the real cheesing. The strength of the spec really seems to be cleave.

And yea I'm hoping there will be some more balance but the PTR thus far looks like some big nerfs incoming (at least for a few classes).

Fire mage nerf? God! I really had a tough time learning the spell rotation by chaining crits in order to get maximum dps and it still lacks when compared to a hunter or a DK. I really don't know how i'll be able to handle a nerf at this time.

I finally got a legendary on my Rogue last night. Unfortunately, it ended up being the cloak that gives a stacking +FoK buff. Although, it does make FoK ridiculously powerful at 30 stacks as it deals 350k damage per enemy (non-crit, tooltip value). What made the cloak even more unfortunate is that I already had an ilevel 880 cloak, so getting a 910 wasn't that big of a deal.

Annoying - and my highest ilvl item outside of my legendary is in the same slot of course!

Does anyone remember during WoD, the garrison hearthstone loadscreen just freezing up your game client?

was there a fix for that? Asking for a friend.

So I read about the fire mage "Nerfs" and am frankly pretty disappointed cos I've put in all my game time, which is very little, into collecting AP and making the artifact stronger. There are hunters and DKs who already out dps me despite being at lower ilvls than me.
Why the nerf? Was the fire mage tat over powered? Also, if they're going to nerf specs like this, why didn't they just share AP among all specs? I mean the AP should be common to the fire, frost and arcane specs shouldn't it?

There is quite a few people across several specs feeling that way. Haven't seen much change on the ptr yet though.

I was hitting this thread to get some help on FIRE mage (and i hear is OP????) I did most my classes to 100 and just drug my old mage over to Legion and getting MY AZZ handed to me.. all my other classes (pally, warrior, rogue, lock, monk) i smoked through Legion content, my mage is dying over an over , two mobs same level destroy him ( if i cant poly one) i started in druid area and my FIRST quest was to kill the satyr and imps so no poly.. I'm spec'ed with ICY veins guide (worked well in last expansion). But im doing maybe 10% damage to the mob a fireball, I know its rotation, but good gosh.. depending one crits when it "felt" like with other classes i was phoning it in.. it must be my playstyle (i am sure it is) but even when I burn like I'm PVPing i just eak fights that i could auto attack and win on other toons. Then im waiting on cooldowns (that are not that bad, 60 seconds), but no sustained mob killing for this mage. I cant solo hardly any silvers, damn razorbeak (was that the name) i cant even get him to 1/2 on full blow my wad burn.. is this class purely hit X, then y then x, 100% restricted to exact same rotation? I know (all my other toons did it) it gets easier as I level and buff up the artifact and so on.. but I am so frustrated right now i could post a long annoying post in WOW thread.. waht do i need to do Fireball (or pyro on open) then (damn at work cant look up spell names) combust 2x to gain crit on pyro, every single fight? even that seems to stall me.

Man what the hell has been up with Blizzard lately? Locks went on and on about their problems on Beta and Blizzard basically did nothing to address them. Then again that has been the issue with Ret as well. Class tuning took forever and by the time it came around many people were already too invested in their already more powerful spec to abandon their AP investments. Raids are shipping with all kinds of issues and bugs that were reported upon on the PTR and then ignored. Guilds that benefited from them got banned.

It's like they're six months behind the rest of the world these days.

We know locks suck, but since we didn't listen to any of the complaints till know, we don't know how to fix it. My bad broh.

Sigh, this is why I just can't pay attention to this stuff anymore. Just not worth the time. Of course, the xpac is rather anti-alt or even respec due to artifact points so the changes hurt that much more.

Reminds me of the end of Burning Crusade expac, the devs on the forums said they had never intended Resto Druids to become "hotbots" aka raid healers only (with a silly tree form that can only cast hots). Yet, during the beta tests of BC, many people told them... this is where the design will go. Druids didn't even have an out of combat rez at the time.

Remember when I was all ":( I don't get legendary drops". Well, I don't know if Blizzard was reading, but let's just say that's changed. About two weeks ago, I got a legendary cape drop on my Rogue. It wasn't too bad, but given that I already had a high ilevel cape, it wasn't as big of an upgrade. Last night, I went to do the spider world boss (still not sure why two world bosses were up?) that was about to go away, and when he died, I saw that I got some loot (wasn't an upgrade) and then boom... Legendary boots.

That's a pretty good day, right? Well, hold yer horses, because there's more.... I went to my Death Knight to do the world boss, and he just ended up getting gold. No big deal! I wasn't originally going to do the soon-to-expire emissary quest, but I figured I could rip through it fast (my DK is really good at killing groups). I turned in the Valarjar quest, and boom... legendary drop. I got the Frost DK belt, and honestly, it's a pretty sweet item that gives Obliterate a 15% chance to refund two runes (regardless of how many are spent, which means the proc to have it only cost one rune still refunds two). I might have to swap off of Frostscythe finally. I'll miss it for its ridiculous AoE capabilities, but it's time.

I play Unholy and sadly got the boots. I need the bracers to make my spec viable. Freakin' bliz.

Bad design is bad.

Something I recall from old WoW has come back to haunt me again. How the hell is it that I am "facing" a mob and yet am told I can't cast because I am not facing the mob? My play style intermixes using the arrow keys to move and the mouse and somehow (generally at the worst times) I somehow manage to get myself facing something yet evidently the game doesn't know I am facing it? Is there someway to sync moving and turning around so this doesn't happen?

Flawed game is flawed. I'll exit the tower in the mage qtr on my druid and attempt to use travel form flying but even though I'm outside it still says "can only be used outdoors". I need to stay out for a good five seconds before the button registers. Kinda annoying.

If you're like me and move the camera and character independently sometimes, make sure upon casting something that you re-orient your character to the thing you're casting at. The easy way to do that is to hold the right mouse button and briefly move the mouse left or right, that'll immediately make your character facing the direction the camera is pointing (as it's the 'run forward and rotate character with mouse' mode of movement, and character turning is instant).

Can't help you for NPCS that are so damn big but with such a small hitbox that you can be inside it but also not be facing it. Those are just lame.

There is a quest in Highmountain that drove me nuts with trying to target around my "companion" for the quest. I ended up using overhead view to get around him.

I make a game of it to see if I can change to bird form before hitting the ground and taking damage. It used to be very noticable in the WoD garrison on the delay or odd position requirements to shift forms or mount up.
