What rebalancing? Didn't they just remove resilience but add in PVP Power?

resilience is becoming PvP power/defense... but PvP power/defense are supposed to be "free" stats, not included in the item budget so that PvP-geared players can fare better in PvE (but likewise, MoP PvP epics will now be lower ilevel than PvE gear in the same tier/season)

  • PvP gear will be lower in item level than PvE gear of an equivalent tier, however the Power and Defense stats will make sure that PvP gear is more powerful in PvP (both offensively and defensively) than PvE gear. In our budgeting system, the PvP stats will be free rather than causing other stats, such as Strength or haste, to be smaller as a result of including Power or Defense.

  • The goal of this change is to make it easier for a PvP player to participate in PvE, or for a PvE player to get started in PvP. Currently, we feel it is too large a barrier to go from one to the other, and the result has been that we see more and more players choosing to focus exclusively on only PvP or PvE. In earlier expansions, it was more feasible to use PvE gear in Arenas or Battlegrounds until you acquired the more useful PvP gear. The same was true of being able to use your PvP gear in a dungeon or raid until you acquired something better. In Cataclysm, stepping into PvP with no PvP gear would result in a player being so ineffective that it was difficult to even make progress towards acquiring PvP gear.

For the duration of the week of September 18-24, level-85 characters

After the lifting of the mists, the Battle of Theramore will join all o

We’ll see you there!ther Scenarios as level-90-only content, and everyone -- including players who missed it at level 85 -- will be able to play through the event. Upon completing the Scenario for the first time, players will see the aftermath of the battle whenever visiting Theramore in Dustwallow Marsh. Theramore will eventually be changed permanently to its post-battle state in a future patch, sometime after the launch of Mists of Pandaria, whether or not players have completed the Scenario. will be able to queue up for and participate in the Alliance and Horde versions of this new Scenario with two friends. (Please note: if friends are not available to you at the time, two will be provided. Batteries not included. Subject to change. Void where prohibited.)The Battle of Theramore, the first of many Scenarios coming to World of Warcraft, is a story-changing event that will be available to level-85 characters for one week only -- the week leading up to the launch of Mists of Pandaria on September 25.

This stuff would be interesting IF

They had pvp scenarios That affected based on the outcome.

Like lets say southshore wasn't under water.

Horde attack, Alliance defends. Across all servers they have 1 battle a day each for a week (at X time). Winning groups are tallied by blizzard. Lets say:

If Horde won 75%+ of the time, The city is razed to the ground with remains and smoldering stuff everywhere. And in the middle a Horde Banner with maybe a watch tower and dock.

If it was close to 50/50, if horde won, the town would be occupied by horde with battle scars all over the city. If alliance won, they would have pushed back the horde and damaged some of brill (or w/e city by horde is there)

If Alliance won 75%+ of the time, the city of brill was taken over by the alliance, with many battle scars.

Something like that. THAT would be cool. Not a prescripted event that the outcome is already known.

My WoW was patched, rebuilt and ready to go by the time I had to leave for work this morning.

I'm not sure why I did that as I haven't had a subscription for months :D

Maintenance period extended. What a surprise that is....why not just say "All of Tuesday during patch day the realms will be offline until Wed morning."

TLDR; WoW player since '04 lfg. PM me!

Bought into the year subscription to get d3 for free. I always played WoW on and off, figured it would be good to pay in lump sum rather than pay a higher monthly rate.

That being said, I havent played the game since may. My son was born, and D3 came out. But now I'm stuck paying for a game I rarely use.

I'd love to play again, but I find my interest only holds while there are worthwhile people to play with. To that end, are there any AT guilds out there worth joining? Does anybody have big plans come the xpac?

Been around since '04. I can't play all the time, but I have a pretty consistent shedule. Any other old timers out there looking to get more blood from this rock?

Duely blundered from my thunderdolt.

World of Warcraft Patch 5.0.4

The latest patch notes can always be found at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/
*

General

Account-wide Achievements, pets, and mounts In Patch 5.0.4 and beyond, the majority of your character's Achievements, pets, and mounts will be shared with your other characters.
Please read: Bringing Achievements to the Account Level, by Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street World Event: Attack on Theramore Isle Warchief Garrosh, obsessed with assuring the Horde's supremacy over Kalimdor, launches an all-out attack against Jaina's island home of Theramore. Though valiant Alliance defenders rush to repel the sudden onslaught, they'll soon find themselves unprepared for the terrible scope of Garrosh's true plans. This Scenario will become available in the weeks leading up to the launch of Mists of Pandaria on September 25.

AOE Looting
Area of effect looting comes to World of Warcraft with this patch. After killing a group of enemies in close proximity, when you loot one of their corpses, the loot window will include items from all of the nearby corpses for which you have loot rights.
BattleTag support in World of Warcraft
Players who have enabled their BattleTag will now be able to:
See BattleTag friends in your friends list.
Add and remove BattleTag friends.
Send BattleTag invites to other players via right-click.
Cross-Realm Zones
In some zones, players are now able to form a group with other players from a select pool of realms.
When a player is in a zone that is set as a "cross-realm zone", in addition to seeing other players from their native realm, they'll also seamlessly see (and be able to play with) players from other realms.
Players will always be able to group and quest as they normally would with players from their native realm.
This functionality will be enabled for a limited number of realms at first, and will be granted to additional realms as we near the release of Mists of Pandaria.
*

Classes: General

All classes have been updated with a new talent system, improved abilities, and spells (accessible throughout levels 1-85). Your character's talents have been reset.
Many old talents have been converted to specialization abilities.
Druids now have access to a fourth class specialization: Guardian.
New spells are now learned automatically. Class trainers are only needed to change talents, glyphs, class specialization, or to utilize the dual specialization feature.
All characters now take 40% less damage from other players.
*

Currency Conversion

Valor points have been converted to Justice points, and Conquest points have been converted to Honor points.
Neither of the resultant currencies (Justice and Honor) have an enforced hard-cap at this time.
Players are no longer able to earn Valor or Conquest points (bosses drop Justice, and arenas are closed).
Items formerly purchasable for Valor/Conquest are available for Justice/Honor.
*

Items

Spell Penetration has been replaced by PvP Power on existing items.
Head enchants removed
Enchants that modify the gear in your head slot have been removed from the game. This includes older head enchants of every type.
Relics, ranged, and thrown items
The slot in which ranged, relics, and thrown items were previously equipped has been removed. All weapons should now be equipped in the weapon slot.
Ranged weapons, including wands, have been adjusted to be more powerful.
Ranged weapons no longer have a minimum range.
*

Professions

The glyph system has been updated. Many class glyphs have been added, altered, or moved to different glyph types.
Prime glyphs have been removed.
Chef's Award and Dalaran Cooking Award have been removed. Existing awards have been converted to Epicurean's Award.
*

Quests

The cap for daily quests has been removed.
There is no longer a displayed count of daily quests completed.
*

User Interface

There is a new user interface for your mounts and pets.
Character creation screens have been updated.
Buffs have been consolidated in the UI.
New roll results frame added. This new feature can be accessed by clicking the word "[Loot]" in chat, or by typing "/loot".
The PvE queue frames have been unified. You can now queue for dungeons, raids, and other queue-able content in one handy place.
Vendors now offer item filtering.
Spellbooks have been updated to reflect changes to core abilities, and now include a brief overview of specializations.
The Dungeon Journal has been expanded with information on all pre-Cataclysm encounters.
A new help system has been added to many frames. You can toggle this on and off by clicking the "i" button in the upper left corner of the frame.
*

Mac

Mac OS X 10.5 is no longer supported.
Added full support for Retina displays.
Added support for game resolutions that match Mac screen aspect ratios.
Switching between Windowed and Fullscreen display modes should be faster.
A "Help" menu has been added, so that players can quickly navigate to support pages.

Haha that pretty much sums it up for blizzard on big patch days. Even if they get the servers up they are full of lag and keep crashing on these specific big Tuesdays. They have gotten a lot better with it though. I remember in Vanilla when blizzard was so crappy that there used to be wait lists to get into the game and it would crash on random days. We used to joke around that the reasons for crashes back then were that the servers were rigged up with duck tape and the employees would randomly spill coffee on them.

That's a fraction of the changes because of the lack of details. The class changes alone would be another huge list for talents, class specs, glyphs (details), spells, etc.

You really need to view mmo-champion so you can follow all the links for details. Also Icy Veins has class guides for 5.0.4. http://www.icy-veins.com/classes-wow

Its a good and legit strategy. However with GW2 not having a subscription, it isnt to hurtful on GW2.

I never checked on the beta, but I believe that they are. I really should finish the ICC 10-man meta achievement on my Paladin. All I have left is Sindragosa on heroic and her achievement (All You Can Eat). I shudder at the thought of hearing her cringe-worthy voice once more! :(

Sindra acheive is really easy at 85. All you need is good dps and lust.

Warlocks have 2 talents that block incoming damage and reflect it, one for 50% and another for 25%, wonder how they stack.

damn now I need to decide which class I want to play again. I've got an 85 of all classes except shaman. I've been a mage for a while but I am always so jealous of those druids and their instant cast flight form. Not to mention the fact that a druid can pick any playstyle they want and be very effective at it. (Although I pretty much only DPS). I may have to make the switch to druid.

Druid feral dps is very unforgiving if you mess up rotation but it is my favorite and my druid was my first toon from way back in vanilla. Im almost at the point to having one of every class. My rankings out of what I have

Druid > DK > Shaman > Pally > Mage

Working on a Rogue > Hunter > War

The advantage to pure dps is you're never asked to do something you don't want to. ;)

Sure, you may have to change playstyles but you're still doing damage, if that's your thing.

another cool thing about druids is they can be damn near unkillable in pvp. many a time have I given up on killing a resto druid because he just ran away and healed through everything i threw at him. those times have been extremely frustrating to me, so I hope to put other people through that type of frustration myself someday

I would have had every class at 85, but I just got too damn bored. I think the only classes that I'm missing are... my hunter, and... that might be it. I have two shamans, druids and paladins, and only both shamans are 85.

Is that on normal or heroic? I guess in this situation, combined achievements means that I don't need to worry about a week lockout. I can just do it on one character on normal for the encounter achievement and then do it on another character for the heroic achievement.

I did it on Heroic 10 man and 25 man. Super easy. Only thing was that people were insanely retarded about ice blocks. I guess cata players forget about actual fight mechanics... Once we got the "mark run down the stairs" part down, it was a 1 shot achieve.

playing an Ele shaman in PvP has been one of the most frustrating experiences of my WoW career.... I'm sticking with my shaman, but I think I'm going to go PvE - Ele / PvP - Enhance in MoP

it feels like any class with an interrupt can curb-stomp me because I've got 1 instant cast spell and it's on a CD.

but I'll suck it up till then, I don't have the time or inclination to grind a whole new set of PvP gear just for the next month.
