Anyone looking to sell an alliance lvl 23+ guild? Don't care what realm, I'd be willing to transfer it if need be.

It was kind of odd last night. We were getting a ton more fire on the boat than normal, and it kept spreading well after Goriona landed, but I'm pretty sure the fire is supposed to eventually go away as the gnomes put it out, not get worse.

Onyxia must have been deep breathing more onto our boat! :colbert:

I haven't played for a full year (started at launch) but I do check this thread out from time to time just to see what's going on.

Does anyone else here LOVE the music in WoW? I just spent almost two hours listening misc. scores and mini-tracks that someone extracted from the original games files. The pre-expansion WoW was a magical time for me. Probably the best gaming year of my life.

I was trying to pinpoint why I started to dislike WoW and where it started to lose its luster for me. One of the primary factors was the death of exploration/adventure. Flying mounts and removing the need to have to travel to instances really dampened a part of WoW that they couldn't make up for. Did no one else love getting immersed in the world and listening to zone music?

It also really bugged me when they removed essentially all of the non-instance elite areas. They presented a sense of fear, challenge and accomplishment. I remember two-manning the elite orc area in the Wetlands with a friend. We died like 8 times trying to perfectly clear and pull that Nek'rosh (?) NPC and kill him. He was orange to both of us.

Exactly how I fell. I couldn't of said it any better.

I miss the sense of fear I felt while riding through the wilderness...always keeping an eye out for "red."

You want to still deal with shitty non-instanced elites, grab a l60 and play in outlands.

You could have just been really bad at soaking and allowed the boat to hit the "fire start" thresholds which are at the 25% markers. If you reach one just before she lands, that fire will have time to run around a bit before it's put out. Also the fire chases so if Gariona was down, people could have just brought it straight into your melee/range clumps.

It just seemed odd, because our only difference between any other prior kill was that we didn't have our feral druid (DPS). Given that our melee don't soak small circles (I could on my Rogue if I can get Feint off first), that shouldn't have affected anything. It's possible that we were just having an off night too.

We beat it the next raid night without any problems (that I recall). H-Spine is not at that state yet. Man, we made some really bad mistakes on Spine. :p I'm talking dragging-the-elemental-thing-to-the-wrong-side mistakes. However, I don't mind Spine so much, because my DPS is ridiculous on that fight with Blade Flurry up. E-peen++!

If you have completed all bosses of the raid finder dragon soul dungeons with ilevel378 gear (and maybe 1 or two 397s), is it acceptable to say you can do the same with the 10-man raid?

I ask this because I get sick of people requesting people to do raids in trade chat, then say no when your ilevel isn't >390. Why do people still do this?

You don't have any 384 gear from Raid Finder?

Chances are you would be fine, but the only issue that I would have is that Raid Finder is really easy. While normal isn't that hard either, it tends to introduce more mechanics into the mix that are far less forgiving. I probably wouldn't take someone simply because they beat Raid Finder, and that's similar to how I wouldn't do the same for heroic (if they beat normal).

I have one piece from raid finder. Some bracers or something.

From what I've read, normal vs. RF isn't -that- much mechanically different. *shrug*

Well, given that normal and heroic have the 25% potency debuff on all creatures and RF doesn't, that certainly has been helping to bring normal to parity with raid finder. It also makes people with lower gear much more capable, which means there's even less reason not to bring someone with a Fireland's gear level.

The mechanics that are added into normal really aren't that hard either. It's really just more awareness on the part of the raiders. Especially since DBM will easily tell you what to do.

I've been two off of the ICC10 mount on my Paladin for quite a long time. You can probably guess which boss I don't have the achievements for. :p

Some people are still a-holes to be frank. While trying to gear up my alt hunter, I ran into the same issue. I've had a few people turn me down claiming I was inexperienced.

One time in a group I got turned down on my hunter but they were also looking for a tank and healer. So I swapped onto my well geared tank, got invited linking them the same achievement (but of course my igear is higher.) I left the group after saying "odd, but my hunter is inexperienced." Switched to my healer, got invited, and did the same thing.

Glad I didn't go though, the RL was a total a-hole and he couldn't lead the pug, they called it on ultraxion since they couldn't get pass the trash before he spawns. Go figure. Pug I got into did full clear with heroic marchok (got the gloves :D ) and Heroic Ultraxion (got the boots :D).

With the debuff in effect, 6-7 well experienced players can carry 2-3 newbs - we've had to do it to gear up new members quickly.

How DARE you use LOGIC and REASON! That doesn't belong in WoW! You must only accept those with ilevel 400+ to run regular dungeons!

My friend and his wife are leveling some characters in WoW, and I told him to invite me when he turns 85. My iLevel is only 405... just slightly overpowered for a dungeon!

I mean... I understand why people do it. If you have a fairly established group of 5+ people doing a 25-man raid, you can have multiple people checking prospective puggers. If you're the only person in charge, then you have to check everyone yourself. That's a pretty arduous task. While iLevel doesn't tell you much, sometimes it can be a quick gateway device to keep out people that may be too undergeared.

It's also a problem that Raid Finder and Normal share the same completion achievements. How can I easily show that I have defeated Normal on a character? I can't.

Wha... I didn't think it was possible to wipe on that? That part is such a joke, that one time I RP-walked around acting like a drill sergeant of sorts, "<Hunter>... shoot more!" "I need to see more heals, healers!"

Yeah... I was pretty bored. :p I eventually just went around randomly Sinister Striking dragons and seeing if I could tank any of them before the actual tank would taunt. :D

In my guild when we pug, we try to ask questions more along the fights than checking ilvl and achievements. We also check their WoW-armory page to see how many actual kills they may have on their toon (if any.)

I've personally accepted undergeared people to a raid, more so if we had no worries if carrying someone, and found them to be really good players. And then of course we've taken the guy with the "my main is heroic DS10 clear and this is just my alt" only to realize guy was full of it would stand in fires then say something about "lag" and how our group sucks because "I never die to that with my other group." Haha.

There honestly is no way to verify a person's worth in WoW. ilevel means nothing, armory for an alt means nothing when they claim their main does all the work, then they give you a bogus main which of course has 20+ Heroic DW kills but the guy can't move for the ping-pong ball.

In the end, we learned simple chat with any possible pugs is a good indicator. For example the "this is just our alt group [even if it isn't] so we might wipe a few times" off the bat a response like "nevermind" rules out any bad eggs.

It's also a problem that Raid Finder and Normal share the same completion achievements. How can I easily show that I have defeated Normal on a character? I can't.

WoW armory tracks kills separately for RF/Normal/Heroic. Of course as I said above the 'this is my alt' situation comes into play, and if you ask for their main chuckle if they claim their main is the top rated PVE on your server (or one time, they claimed to be the alt of someone already in the group who was on their alt. Oh man.)

I was really just trying to put forth the notion that the amount of time that it takes to fill an entire PUG can be quite daunting if you spend awhile vetting each member. If my guild were to try to fill a last spot, it would be significantly easier. Chances are that we would have a guild member capable of critiquing their talents and stat allocations, which would also be helpful.

In other words, it's just a totally different ballgame when you're assembling an entire group vs. finding a person or two. It's pretty quick for me to look at the armory, because I can easily copy someone's name, switch to my other monitor (I'm in windowed mode), type "darr" into Firefox, which is already open. Select my own armory link (for Darro, Darrien, Darrox, etc.), replace the name and hit enter. Not as hard for me, but others might find it difficult if they have to alt-tab and only have one monitor.

Decided to try out game again, bored with all the other mmog.
Even tho i have all the expansions i have never managed to get a char
past the mid 50's. Usually get bored with the game and/or tired of the morons in the
game. Last night i was in the nooby area and some L35 undead stops in front of me. Does not say anything. Then trade comes up. i think, cool a nice player wants to give me some yard trash (as in good gear for me not for him). Nope, nothing happens.

Trade window closes and then up comes the duel flag. lol.

So i started an undead Warlock and so far so good. Noticing lots of little
changes and some big. Not sure yet what is going on with the Forsaken and all the little outposts in Silverpine. Same for all those wagons with green globes on them puffing smoke into the air.

looks like there are enough changes in the game to keep me interested. sure would like to get to high level at least once so i can see some of the expansion areas :)

42 - 80 in 2 weeks on my mage, I feel accomplished.

that AV weekend helped a ton... pushed me through my mid/late 50's through early 60's with nonstop queue'ing (I also spent 78-79 just farming obsidium in Hyjal to level engineering)
