Funny story from yesterday. (PVP realm) I'm questing in Searing Gorge on my lvl54 dwarf disc priest alt in full heirlooms when I see a lvl 49 belf mage nearby. I see the lvl difference and go about my business killing quest mobs. As I aggro one, the mage tries to take me. I'm thinking, what kind of moron will go after someone 5 lvls above that has shields, heals, and their main nuke heals them as well? Dotted him, refreshed shield, HF, Smite. Dead mage. I keep going on about my questing as I'm chatting with a guildie on vent about how stupid that mage was. So I tell him that it's probably the same type of person that would pull "I'm going to get my main" to avenge his foolish gank attempt. Less than 30 seconds later, a hunter comes down out of the sky and one shots me.

So off I go to get my frost mage ... get to searing gorge from SW and the hunter is nowhere to be found. His lowbie mage is however so I return the favor and stick around to see if the hunter comes back. I wait around for a while, hunter comes back and gives the situation a once over, probably decides he wants no part of it and takes off again. So I retrieve the priests corpse and continue questing. I see the mage again a few minutes later, and down him one more time to make sure he gets the message.

The stupidity of some people just aggravates the f*** out of me ...

I can get you in on Friday for an alt/applicant run if you are serious. I know a dozen people who would be glad to play with you again.

PUGs are pretty awful from my experience. I think they've been babied too much by the huge boost they received in ICC. I think one of the bigger problems I run into is that people PUG and don't really know the fights or PUG people for their guild's run without really saying, "Hey, we still can't beat this guy... you want to come wipe with us!?"

I've ran into that a few times... I get with a guild and it's either that they're good and I can just do my thing or they're really bad, and for them, just killing one boss is an achievement in itself (except for me, it's a waste of a raid lock).

The stupidity of some people just aggravates the f*** out of me ...

Reminds me of the "Gonna Get My Main" song!

It seems strange though... why would WoW refuse to even boot up because of a DNS problem o_O. It was even weirder how Wrath of the Lich King loaded, but Cataclysm wouldn't.

I believe it was because they released 4.1 for download, so when the launcher tried to go look for this, it couldn't resolve something in the path to Blizz. I agree it does sound weird, but not sure what other explanation.

Another topic, most guilds are now in the uncapped experience section. I know we spent a lot of time on alts last night doing some quick BWD bosses and a bunch of heroics for fast XP. It will be interesting to see what crazy guild gets world first level 25.

From another board, posted yesterday

"Crab People hit 25 a couple of days ago, mostly through running 5-man runs."

Not every guild was reset the first day when they tuned down the experience and made achievements not grant it etc.

I found out last week that the launcher and even starting straight from the the exe will not work if IE is in Offline mode. They have something hard coded in the program doing a check.

I have to say I'm quite depressed with the state of the Blue Gem market. I skilled JC to 503 right now and have been making bank prospecting and vendoring green gems. I have over 700 blue quality gems but honestly theres no cut worth getting. I try to get 40g per blue gem I sell but its just not possible. I buy out 4 20g gems relist them at 50g and wait for the undercuts to relist repeatedly till I sell all of my gems.

Every single time some douchenozzle runs up lists 40+ gems at 12g 50s each and I am not willing to drop that kind of change to run a market on a gem where I can sell 4-5 a day. I could list mine at 12g but whats the point. I haven't even bought a cut yet because every single one I consider getting with my tokens gets ruined before I buy the cutor just doesn't look profitable enough. I'm probably just going to hold onto all my blue gems and get cuts as guildies need them because I'm about to buy my chopper with the gold I'm making from prospecting.

What server? I searched for this guild but found only 404 errors and a highest guild of level 10.

Interesting:

•We plan on implementing a system where winning an item via Need (when using the Dungeon Finder Need Before Greed loot system) will make a BoE item soulbound. We hope to have this working for the 4.2 patch.

They needed to do this years ago...

That's actually a very nice change, they should have put that in earlier.

Good change - Though I would point out that years ago, we couldn't trade soulbound items at all. Now there is a time limit where players in your dungeon/raid group can give a "soulbound" item to another player in the same dungeon.

So even in~guild, it used to be the player would ask/announce if (s)he needed it and why ("Can I need for Off Spec?"), because they had to roll 'Need' in order to get the thing. Another player could not pass the item over after the fact without putting in a GM ticket.

Since that's no longer the case this is a good - and highly welcomed - change.

WOW! More Incentive for me to Queue for a random heroic as tank once again..

http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/2243-Patch-4.1-Preview-Dungeon-Finder-Call-to-Arms

In patch 4.1 we'll be introducing Dungeon Finder: Call to Arms, a new system intended to lower queue times. Call to Arms will automatically detect which class role is currently the least represented in the queue, and offer them additional rewards for entering the Dungeon Finder queue and completing a random level-85 Heroic dungeon.

Any time the Dungeon Finder queue is longer than a few minutes for level-85 Heroics, the Call to Arms system kicks in and determines which role is the least represented. In the case of tanking being the least represented role, the "Call to Arms: Tanks" icon will display in the Dungeon Finder UI menu where class roles are selected, and will also display on the UI when the queue pops and you are selected to enter a dungeon. Regardless of your role, you'll always be able to see which role currently has been Called to Arms, if any.

Call to Arms is meant to lower wait times by offering additional rewards for queuing as the currently least represented role. To be eligible for the additional rewards you must solo queue for a random level-85 Heroic in the role that is currently being Called to Arms, and complete the dungeon by killing the final boss. Every time you hit these requirements (there is no daily limit) you'll receive a goodie bag that will contain some gold, a chance at a rare gem, a chance at a flask/elixir (determined by spec), a good chance of receiving a non-combat pet (including cross faction pets), and a very rare chance at receiving a mount. The pets offered come from a wide variety of sources, and include companions like the Razzashi Hatchling, Cockatiel, and Tiny Sporebat, but the mounts are those specifically only available through dungeons (not raids), like the Reins of the Raven Lord from Sethekk Halls, Swift White Hawkstrider from Magister's Terrace, and Deathcharger's Reins from Stratholme.

This system is meant to address the unacceptable queue times currently being experienced by those that queue for the DPS role at max level. The long queue times are, of course, caused by a very simple lack of representation in the Dungeon Finder by tanks, and to some extent healers. We don't feel the tanking and healing roles have any inherent issues that are causing the representation disparity, except that fulfilling them carries more responsibility. Understandably, players prefer to take on that responsibility in more organized situations than what the Dungeon Finder offers, but perhaps we can bribe them a little. While this system gives tanks and healers something extra, the incentive is being provided so that we can help players in the DPS role get into more dungeons, get better gear, and continue progressing.

While the gold, gems, flasks, and elixirs are OK incentives, we knew we needed something more substantial. We had briefly considered Valor Points and epics, but decided that wouldn't be working toward the goal of helping DPS players progress, and ultimately wouldn't keep tanks and healers in the Dungeon Finder system for very long. We settled on pets and dungeon-found mounts as they’re cosmetic/achievement items that players tend to try to get on their own, so why not change that up and offer them a chance to get some of those elusive pets and mounts in a way that also helps other players? Even if they don't get a pet or mount, or get one they already have, the gold and other goodies still feel rewarding enough that it won't feel like a waste of effort.

We think it's a pretty solid incentive to get tanks and healers queuing, give max-level players another way to collect the pets and mounts they so desire, and above all, to improve wait times for DPS players sitting in queues. In the case of lower level dungeons, it's actually not uncommon for DPS to be the least represented role, and so if this new system works out and we're pleased with the results, we may consider applying this same mechanic to lower level dungeons as well.

I have an 85 tank and go on tears for heroics some days and others I get my one in and I am done. I hope the mounts are BoA, which I highly doubt, as my main is a Warlock and my tank a Warrior.

I love tanking, I just don't have the time to run heroics all the time. I'm having a hard time keeping up with 2 raid nights a week :( Not that mounts and gold/flasks would really make me want to run more heroics anyway, it might be nice for when I do actaully run one.
