We had a lot of our healers get picked up by the tornados or knocked off by his burst thing :\. We finally beat it with a few of us alive (including yours truly :D).

For the people that have killed Nef (yeah, I know we are a little slow) what was your gear like when you down'ed him. We spent two or three hours last night wiping on him and rarely made it to phase 2 and was with us burning Hero right at the start just so we could get some time in on P2. Our healers just couldn't keep the tanks up (druid healers).

So, hence the gear question. The healers are in mostly epics whether they be crafted, rep or earlier drops. I'd say they all have between 3-5 blues. They probably goes for the most the rest of our 10 man as well. We've been discussing putting Nef on hold and using the time we would spend on Nef to hit BoT up, as well as Conclave to farm up some purples/valor points. Is this something we want to do or should we looking at other issues as to why we are struggling so much on Nef?

edit: I should add that Ony and Nef were far enough apart that they weren't getting the haste buff (at least not for most the attempts). So it wasn't an issue of just them gibbing our tanks with 100% haste. I know the fight really revolves around the add tank, but that doesn't seem to be our problem. At least not yet.

Are you making sure to announce electrocute before it happens? Your healers may need time to adjust to the very large amount of damage that's about to occur.

yup, thats not so much the issue. At least not that I can tell. It's not the Crackle thats getting us. I'm watching my tanks health (target of target, etc) while I am on Ony and it's just always low. The druid is fighting to keep him up. The same is happening with the other tank/healer combo from what i can hear on vent. Things will be moving along, and then BAM tank goes down and it's pretty much over from there.

You only mentioned two healers... why not run three? I'm pretty sure we use three (holy priest, resto shaman, and resto druid).

Well we have 3. One for each dragon and then a 3rd watching the kiting group. Sorry, should have mentioned that from the start.

Well, I think this expansion has run it's course for me. My PvP group is falling apart due to rated battlegrounds kinda being a dud. People I play with are quitting from disinterest. Arena's are apparently pretty unbalanced and that won't hold their interest. I could try to find a new group or PvE but I think I've had fun and should stop playing while I still like it rather than keep playing till I eventually hate it (as all my wow binges have been).

This really was the wrong expansion to play as a PvP priest in =\ But all in all, not too bad I guess.

What? Shadow priests are AMAZING this patch in PVP. So are disc priests.

But I agree, Arena is semi-broken now, and less interesting than it was in Wrath. I've been enjoying RBGs, but I roll with a solid group.

That was about our gear. The TB trinket can really help you out. It's a great crackle save. Rogues feint.

Ya I'm feeling the same way. Last night my wife and I did arenas and I was getting pissed off. Most of the teams that wooped us had a priest in the team, their bubble is so damn OP it's ridiculous.

As far as the rest of the expansion, I've just been bla with it all. I've been playing my level 70 twink Druid most of the time. Less CC's = More Fun.

Disc is fine post patch, but I spent about three months being fodder as disc pre patch. Holy was better for arena's no joke. Shadow was fine in arenas (and still is, probably still will be after "nerfs" in the next patch) but I wanted to go back to playing as disc.

And our group had another disc priest, so if we were still going I'd probably be gearing out a paladin (which I have at level 68 right now). Regardless, for personal and gameplay reasons, I shouldn't have leveled my priest first.

CC is a weird thing in the game to me. It's really powerful and I think it's good... until I have to play against it. It just feels like I'm controlled out/interrupted forever and it's not that fun to be interrupted/crowdcontrolled. Although most high rated rBG teams would just kill priests (early on, probably not as much anymore) so I didn't have to worry about that all that much.

So far Blizzard has not been able to properly balance PvP and PvE. Lets be honest here, there are two World of Warcraft games going on at the same time and they don’t complement one another. Change/Fix one and the other usually suffers.

Here is how I see the problem. People who PvP what parity in their classes. It’s not unreasonable from a PvP perspective to want an equal shot of winning a match regardless of what class of character you run. A PvP match should be about skill not about one class having an “I Win” button.

On a side note, do the “I Win” buttons still drop off people you defeat in AV?

Back on topic, without parity between classes what you will see, and what we have all seen in the past, is that a few classes dominate PvP. Blizzard has actually made some impressive changes in equalizing the PvP of different classes but again it usually comes at the expense of the PvE game.

Blizzard continues to separate the two facets of the game and I think they have come up with some interesting solutions. Still I often see a change to one affect the playability of the other.

They Hotfixed the ability to use parachutes in RBGs last night while I was watching a stream. The guys were raging hardcore.

Without a good group of friends to play with, and the challenge of raiding, there is very little content to keep high level characters busy or interested in Cata. Lucky for me I have a good group of friends I play WoW with.

PvE is a great deal more difficult than it was in Wrath, this being good or bad depends on your perspective. I like the challenge and have managed to pull my DPS up substantially. My biggest complaint is how much more difficult Blizzard has made healing. There weren’t a boat load of people willing to heal in Wrath now there are even fewer. Yes a good healer can manage to make it okay but there are no margins for error in the group and the healer has no ability to compensate when something goes off track even a small amount.

PUG’s are proving to be a complete PITA waiting 40 minutes for a group that wont work together to save their own grandmother. To be honest the PUGs are getting less troublesome as people start to get over geared but there are still long queue times.

Start a Goblin or Worgen? Sure and enjoy the new low level content until you end up needing to grind 60 to 85 through all the stuff that you have already seen… not fun IMO.

I’ve said it before, I like Cata and most of the changes that Blizzard has made to the game but the content is very thin compared to other expansions.

Don’t know how they were using them but I have yet to see any change Blizzard makes in game NOT upset someone. Were the rants at least amusing?

I still think of Arena as “PvP” same conditions affect both.

I believe PvP was fine in this game until they introduced Arena. People didn't expect parity when they were ganking each other back and forth in outdoor PvP or zerging flags in the battlegrounds. Arena however is completely different as it pits two teams with equal small numbers (5 as the most) straight up against each other and the winners are whoever still stand at the end.

I consider WoW to have 3 personalities; PvE, PvP and Arena.

And, top priority in changes seem to come in this order:
1) Arena
2) PvP (battlegrounds)
3) PvE

Arena is very popular, if it wasn't, they wouldn't make the changes they've made so far.

Actually, PVE changes have come first in this expansion.

Actually I still think of it as two with Arena being a sub set (or simply a different flavor) of overall PvP. It’s all player versus player as opposed to player versus environment.

The things that people need in a battleground are the same things they need in an arena. Size of the groups and venues aside, the mechanics are the same. Tactics may vary but they vary from battleground to battleground as well.

Now that doesn’t mean that things havent been changed specifically to attempt to balance Arena matches but those changes also affect the PvP in Battlegrounds.

I guess I’m being redundant with my examples now.

Can we call it

PVP-A and PVP-B?:D
