holy palys are hax you should always have 1 if not more.

also yes more gear drops but you have to roll against 2.5 tines as many people. on a personal level the speed at which you get gear will prob be similar.

in our 10 man the other day 5 out of the 10 people were on Conq, only 1 was a tank

reminds me of BT when 50% of our 25 mans were on the Paly/Priest/Lock token

at least you have a higher chance to roll 😛 if it doesn't drop, you have 0% chance to get it!

Anyone else finding guild recruiting to be extremely difficult post-4.0.3? I'm not sure if it's the guild changes or that raiding is simply in high demand right now, but it's insanely hard to get anyone to respond to you. This is on a high-pop server while on the heavy side of a very imbalanced weigh between Alliance and Horde.

If there are any holy pallys here who want to transfer and raid on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, you'd be doing me a huge favor. 😛 😀

we currently aren't recruiting, the benefit from going from 25-10s is that we need nobody 😛

most people now want to join a guild as progressed as possible and basically get carried, it will take a while for things to even out. its annoying but its how it normally works

The hunters getting leveled to maybe play with some friends but I hear they're hardcore baddies not that I can really keep a normal raid schedule with my classes this semester =/

Ran my first ‘Heroic” Dead Mines last night. It was a guild run which is always good the first time you see an instance. While the place looks the same all I can say is “Sonny....this isn't your grandmas Deadmines."

Blizzard is often (what's the best word?) "inconsistent" when it comes to instances. We hear from Ghostcrawler himself that Crowd Control is essential in Heroic Five man runs and yet many of the early Trash Mob pulls turn out to be immune to Crowd Control.

Sheep = Immune
Hunter Trap = Immune

And that’s not good because these particular trash mobs hit like an NFL lineman.

Luckily we had a very astute Mage with us who noticed that some of these mobs had an immunity spell cast on them that could be "Stolen" thus making them vulnerable to CC. The Speed at which our mage was able to steal the spell and then CC his targets was to say the least impressive.

Further on in the instance the mobs are no longer immune to CC which gives me the impression that the early mobs are a test to see if a group has what it takes to run the instance. It wouldn’t be the first time that Blizzard made the early content of an instance harder than the rest.

Along with the Trash Mobs that hit like a ton of bricks the instance itself has some unique challenges. Because it's small and twisty, positioning for fights is tricky at best. When you have bombs raining down on just about every available inch of floor space during a fight, movement turns out to be a major issue. It's not an exaggeration to say that blizzard has used the terrain to their best advantage. I won’t spoil the surprise of anyone that might be going there soon but I will say the boss fights range from somewhat unique to strait forward

For those who haven’t run it yet I’ll say, "Have fun with the Robot." I got tapped for that unique task and once I had it figured out it was easy enough. As the guides will tell you, you need to build up steam pressure by using the number one attack twice then hit the number two attack to stun your target. Repeat until your target is down then grab the next target as it spawns. You need to do this quickly as you cant handle two spawns at the same time. If things get out of hand, which they shouldn’t if you do it right, use the number 3 attack to knock back your target and give you some berating room. It took me a few tries but once you have it down it’s fairly easy.

The New Dead Mines is fun and it’s great to see how it’s been updated but if you run it don’t take it lightly.

I agree I have classes Tuesday and Wedsday evenings so finding a guild that doesnt run these days has been an ordeal.

Well the guild I’m in is fairly unique. We are small with perhaps 13 or 14 people who are willing to be “Active” raiders. Unlike most “Serious” raiding guilds that raid a minimum of two or three times a week we only raid once a week on Sundays.

The reason is that our members are on the average older than most people that play WoW. I’m 52 and I’m not nearly the oldest person in my guild. That’s not to say we don’t play a lot but we found that our lives tend to make it difficult to commit to more than one night a week of raiding/guild runs. Even with the once a week raid schedule our guild managed to run ICC all the way to LK prior to Cata. Unfortunately we never got a chance to take him down prior to the expansion but we got darn close.

We are not recruiting right now because we don’t have the time to put into running an even larger guild than we already have. For us it’s been working out good being small and casual though our progression is not as quick as other guilds. We will likely be running in five man groups to take on heroics for now but from what I can see we should start 10 man content in the next 3 to 4 weeks.

Some people are in a big rush to get into the 10 man content and that is understandable but for us it‘s about having fun and being with friends.

Glad to hear you are leveling a Hunter as that’s my favorite class and the one I play as my main.

As has always been the case you should level as a Beast Master as that gives you more survivability and is IMO the best leveling/soloing class in the game. You can even run as BM in five man content as your pets can bring nice Buffs and abilities your groups might otherwise be missing.

For Raid content thought it’s generally accepted that you will need to spec Survival for the best possible DPS output. There have been some good discussions regarding the pros and cons of BM in raid groups. In fact the current patch on the PTR has an increase in BM and MM DPS and a slight decrease in DPS for Survival hunters so it will be interesting to see what happens when this patch goes live.

I think you might enjoy going through the redone old world. The thing is, you don't need to buy Cataclysm to access them (of course), so you could just resubscribe and maybe level a new character through the reformed areas and see if you enjoy it. Just note that if you want to fly in Azeroth (at level 60), you will need to buy Cataclysm.

Unfortunately you also won’t be able to run a Worgan or Goblin character without the Cata expansion. Someone correct me if I’m wrong on that. While much of the early starting content has changed even for non Cata races the content for the goblins and Worgans would obviously be the most interesting as it’s all new.

Outlands and Northrend content remains unchanged so regardless of what race you choose you are in for a grind to get from 60 to 80. All he new content at level 80 is also not going to be open to you if you do not have Cata. I’m also guessing that if you join a guild they will want you to have Cata sooner or later.

Oh don't worry I know Hunter inside and out already. 😛 I have this bad habit of becoming an expert at every class while I'm leveling and then forming opinions that I can't back up because I'm not 85 yet.

I'm loving BM and am leveling as it now. SV is probably the least interesting to me so I am hoping BM becomes raid viable in 4.0.6 as you said.

I do find leveling to be a chore after 4.0.1. I feel like after a certain point theres just no interesting talents to look forward too. I am very excited for the Beast Mastery talent which is good. The extra pet talent points will be great for soloing with my bear and Exotics are neat not make or break for me however.

Once I grab that talent though its 16 levels of boring things like Efficiency till 85. Yuck. I stopped leveling my paladin because after Shield of the Righteous it was just a dearth of necessary yet boring talents.

the guild i was in did 9-12 EST tu/wed/th and was fairly progressed. i think they're 9/12 normal modes (5/12 25's).

the problem with guilds that dont put in 10+ hours a week is that you end up with a LOT of casual players.

This is my idea of a perfect raiding guild as well. We go twice a week for 3 hours a night, which is about as much as I can handle. We always make sure to call the raid right at or before midnight. The last guild I was in was always "one more pull" and then right after that, "just one more pull, we got this". I think I had enough of that when we went almost an hour over one night after banging our heads against a Sindragosa wall.

Sindragosa was such a pain to learn, but after about the third time we saw her we had her down. When we took her out I think the same thought hit everyone in my guild, “Oh Crap now we fight the LK”

There were a lot of fights in ICC that felt really hard but once you had the mechanics down they became a lot of fun. Saurfang was one of my all time favorite fights, mostly because I coordinated the adds in the back end and got a lot of satisfaction out of being in the thick of things and not just mashing buttons. I think we used more CC in that fight than on all the other ICC bosses combined. I’m hoping that the new Raid content will have a lot more fights like Saurfang.

I liked the fights in ICC. They were very mechanics heavy though a lot of the mechanics could be avoided if you will. I know my guild (and part of the reason I've left) always made the tanks jobs harder to make the DPS have less to do. For instance I was in charge of using Chains of Ice on the Valky'r on the LK fight when we had a DPS DK who would not do it. It just wasn't flying in the Cata raids so I've moved on but I enjoyed ICC. It just got old after a year.

With regards to people not responding to guild invites -

- WoW has become World of Solocraft. Back in the old days, if you wanted epic gear, you had to raid. Now you can run dailies or PVP [it has resilience but it also has some very nice stats].
- I see maybe 2-3 people a day who aren't in a guild. Perhaps they are soloists and want nothing to do with being in a guild. Every guild seems to have "click" groups [those groups of people who sit at the same tables in high school] - I hate that type of environment and I see that type of attitude in a lot of guilds.
- A lot of people with unique guild names - I suspect these are soloists with guild banks.
- The rest already in established guilds who are happy where they are at.

I also think it's because there are too many guilds advertising now. I see at least 10 different guilds spamming trade chat everyday.

Alas - a lot of guilds have schedules which I honestly can't do - "guaranteed" sitting in front of the computer for 4-5 hours on any given night - weeknights or weekends. I have a frikken life - I'm not one of those guys who's unemployed without any responsibilities that can sit in front of the computer 20 hours a day. 🙂

3 hours max one night from 9pm-midnight PST on the weekend would be ideal - that's when the kids are snoozing and the wife is off playing facebook games. 😀

What's really odd - and I've looked around - a lot of guilds want to start anywhere from 5pm-7pm "PST" no matter what server - PST, CST, EST. Alas - I made the mistake of joining up on an EST server a long time ago - so my "raiding" will probably be in a PUG when people are epic'd out and running the raids/dungeons for loot drops/crafting bops.

Oh God we never got to four towers up, three was bad enough. I also remember when we first started running FL we did the “Toss the guys onto FL to destroy the turrets” method What a freaking crazy thing to do that was. Once we gave up on that idea it was so much easier. And XT… still the most annoying voice in all of WoW. If I had to pick one character in all of WoW though that I hate to have talk it’s Jaina Proudmoore, she NEVER shuts up. No I wouldn’t want to fight her but dang it she makes me want to set myself on fire.
