while that post was serious it was made in jest poking fun at the fact that i don't PVP at all. and i actually take this to the extreme. if i get attacked while doing daily's, i stand there, put my pet on passive and spam a /golfclap macro and let them kill me. Turns out that annoys people more then i would have thought. the hate tells are hilarious as well as the forum posts. Best is ive actually had a few people stop killing me and do a /sorry and went away

I used to do the same when I was farming in Wintergrasp. I play on a PvE server, so WG is the only time I was ever flagged. If somebody came up to me, I'd just stand there and wait for my death, and hope that they weren't camping my body when I got back. I had no interest in seeing if I could kill them, the whole fighting thing was just a waste of my time.

When I got to 85, I didn't even bother with the TB dailies at first because I just assumed that going anywhere in TB or the peninsula would automatically flag you just like WG. I was happy to see that it doesn't, so I actually do the TB dailies a lot more than I would have.

Lol I will try that sometime. I’ve no great interest in Pee V Pee myself but TB is unique situation. Winning TB gives access to the six daily quests in the BG area which give good gold along with Warders Rep and Warders Commendations. So for TB at least there is good reason for me to run PvP even though it’s not my favorite thing to do. There is also the raid content available when the BG is in your faction and that’s another reason to want it. Trust me if it weren’t for all that I wouldn’t bother with PvP.

The weapons that can be purchased with Commendations look to be some of the best you can get pre raid drop and the trinkets are excellent for some classes. I’ve finally gotten the rest of my guild fired up about the TB quests so every time I log in someone is asking for help with the “Tank” quest. Harder to get any of them to queue for the BG unless we are defending.

I grew up as a ProtWar on a PvP server in the (level 60) days when Protection was completely useless unless you had a raid backing you up. Basically, if you chose Tank, then you were a walking free kill for anyone who cared to try. So I have a strong distaste for PvP.

Having said that: My current guild runs/competes/challenges TB...

...As a Guild. All Together. With Pages and Guild Banners up.

I still hate PvP... But I can see where running like that is pretty cool.. :)

I’m with you there. For me though the rewards were pretty nice although I’ve already got the two pieces I wanted.

If I wanted to PvP I would reactivate my Eve online accounts, now that is some kick arse PvP especially in a fleet action. I know some people enjoy PvP in WoW but to be brutally honest I just suck at WoW PvP so I see no reason to do it unless it gets me some PvE gear

I remember the first on line game I ever did any PvP in. The original Never Winter Nights that ran on AOL. The slang term for being killed in PvP while playing NWN was “Gated” because when you died you were transported back to the “gate” at the entrance to the PvP area. The complaint of “CRUD! I just got gated” followed by some derisive comments from your friends like “Well you suck” was commonplace.

Anyone here old enough to have actually played the original NWN will remember “Heading to Dracs” and the ‘Stirge Fight.”

I think more people would enjoy PVP if they put in the time (learn other the classes' abilities, farm a base resil set). In this expansion, PVP has been dumbed down/made easier for most classes, so it's a good time to start.

PVP is fun when you are with people who are on the same page and listen to ONE person who has a relative clue of the tactics for each battleground. Back in ye old guild run days - we would win because of good tactics [and voice comm] and we'd lose because the opposition was clearly a PVP group stacked with resilience to the max.

Today's TB match was awesome - 1 person kept calling out "rez go to [insert capture point here]" and we'd go. It worked like a charm to win us the match. I finally manage to finish the PVP quest for honor points that I'll probably never use. :)

On that note - I have noticed lately that more "e-peen elitists" and "soloists" are running quests in TB:

When someone asks "group for shark tank?" - there are at least 3+ responses of "that quest is soloable". Who the hell cares if you can solo the damn mob - how about we GROUP UP and knock out a daily together?

When people arrive at one of the daily mobs [kill some non-elite leader] - rather than group up, people would rather solo him. I think it's leftover from the told days when mobs like that would drop nice loot and people don't want to share.

And finally - why the hell won't people group up to do the dailies in TB? They'd definitely go A LOT faster...

Ooo, I got kicked out of my first dungeon tonight! T'was a sunny day (I think it's always day there ) in Vortex Pinnacle, and that place I did not know. Okay, enough of the forced limerick... anyway, I had no idea what went on in there except what they list on Bosskillers ( http://bosskillers.com/content/vortex-pinnacle-h ). I get blown off the side once, "interesting...".

I pull the next group and try to position myself against the wall, but of course, the DPS that insists on marking instead of me gets the DPS split and I end up moving to taunt an add back (no idea why I moved... maybe it was one of the caster types), and woosh... off I went again . Before I even got back to the pack, boom... loading screen!

I should've got an achievement for that... maybe even a FoS! Haven't been booted since the Vote Kick system was implemented :p. It was 4/5 from one guild and then me, so I'm not terribly surprised... and even less surprised when I looked and 5 people from their guild just happened to be in Vortex Pinnacle after that :hmm:.

I want to play WoW again, tell me, is the expansion worth me going back and getting "addicted" again? :)

definitely would be faster but one factor is if they're dps, they may be in the LFD queue and if they join a group, they are kicked from queue. 40 mins is still no joke. Hell, even if you're a healer, 10 mins still ain't a picnic.

I've been leveling my 4th character through outlands. A Hunter to play with some friends after I quit my guild 0on my DK and I have to say. Outlands blows goats. Every zone is depressing except Nagrand.

I really got into WoW during BC but didn't hit the cap till WotLK but the BC raids always seemed so much cooler than Naxx and ToC (ICC got outplayed for me) but honestly BC blows. >.>

Back to leveling for me.

I think you might enjoy going through the redone old world. The thing is, you don't need to buy Cataclysm to access them (of course), so you could just resubscribe and maybe level a new character through the reformed areas and see if you enjoy it. Just note that if you want to fly in Azeroth (at level 60), you will need to buy Cataclysm.

Odd they didn't use the same queue system pvp has [or had back when I was playing during WOTLK] - you can queue and group up if you want to run around.

I haven't delved into the queue system yet on my dps or healbot - The horror stories of healing is making me do other things - dailies for the rep rewards, farming for leather, ores, and herbs [just spent about a week farming mats to level up my DK Blacksmith/Enchanting from the start - which I had forgot up until about the northrend enchants they allowed you to enchant pretty much everything to vellum - doh!].

If only Blizzard would legally allow us to sell in game items/gold for real world $$$ - that would make for some nice extra income per month...

Im kind of amazed at how few 10 man guilds there are progressing. we really are taking it pretty lightly and yet are like 8th in the US.

with all the "25 man raiding is dead" posts before cata came out seems odd

also the lock T11 helm looks retarded on a gnome

the difference between 10's and 25's is... wait for it... 15 people.

good players will still be good, regardless of raid environment. and 25's offers much more incentive for those who are loot/progression inclined.

the loot is exactly the same

if you're looking for specific items, you'll have a much higher chance to get that item to drop in 25's. especially if you're looking for trinkets and the like. but, RNG > all and we've only seen DFO drop twice in our many months of running normal and heroic icc25...

ICC still has seperate loot for 10s and 25s. He is talking Cataclysm raids.

magmaw has a loot table that is same in 10's and 25's. you get 2 pieces in 10's, 5 in 25's. if you're looking for a specific drop from magmaw, the chances of you seeing that item drop is significantly higher in 25's than in 10's. its a 1/12 chance to get the item you want, times 2 in 10's, times 5 in 25's.

I was referring to you talking about DFO.

the rate at which you acquire it isn't. (yeah yeah i'm being obvious here)

Until hard modes you get the same drop ratio. Of course your chance of seeing your piece of loot drop is lower as well. What can be, and probably is, radically different though is the rate at which you DE items. We're a 10/12 25 man guild and have maybe DE'd 6 items out of about 170 recorded items. Yet the first week we went into 10's in blues we DE'd some caster Plate since we didn't have a Holy Paladin in there.

re-read my post again, im talking about normal/heroic icc25, where we only saw two DFO's drop throughout the lifetime of the instance. thats a horrible RNG failure, but it happens..

true, we saw 0 normal DFOs and got heroic ones on 5 of our first 6 kills of that bastard

well you would have disenchanted the same item in a 10 man version if you hadn't brought a holy paladin. i don't see how this shows how your rate of disenchanted items goes up. :p
