rolling restarts in the morning again, like almost every day this week. haven't really seen hotfix list posted though.
 
Wow is too inaccessible. Here is what I want:

I want to be part of a raiding guild.
I want to raid 5 hours a week.
I want to get lots of loot.
I want epics in all slots.
I don't want to wipe.
I don't want huge time sinks and repair bills.

Why is blizzard making this so difficult?

I came back for Cat, but I'm nearing the point where I'm ready to cancel my account again.

all the QQ'ing on the forums has kinda intimidated me away from tanking for randoms, everyone in my guild is already geared past them, and the switch over to 10-man raiding feels like it's kinda killed casual raiding, at least as I saw it (where you could have a couple people sub in once and awhile if the regulars had to miss for whatever reason)... with my guild running 10-mans only, it's broken down into the usual cliques and I'm not playing with enough dedication and frequency to get back involved with that.

I am, however, thinking about buying Lego Harry Potter 😛

thats why i liked wrath, i like the challenge cata gives but i just want to go through and steamroll shit like I did in wrath. and im sure a lot of people feel the same way, nerf cataclysm! i've been soloing old BC content rather than running heroics, people are too retarded to run heroics with.

I understand your points there. I'd like to raid again, but I'd prefer it to be 2 days a week (maybe 3 sparingly) and with people that are serious about getting shit done (and are good enough to get it done). All I really care about is the time being put to good use... I hate wiping because people just can't learn to move out of crap or their DPS just isn't up to snuff (even though their gear is).

It's really not too bad. If you have any healer friends that you know are competent, it makes it all much, much easier.

I barely CC in heroics now and I'm only a 341.5 ilevel according to Altoholic. What I normally do is maybe "over-CC" a little and watch my healer mana and my health. If I barely drop below 50% (if at all) and my healer is at 90%+ mana at the end, chances are I'm CCing too much.

The thing I still have a problem with is the large number of caster-heavy pulls. Even as a Paladin, they're still troublesome to get all of the mobs onto you and not off to the side casting. The biggest problem is getting DPS to realize that you're not really generating TPS until all the mobs are near you. At least I'm not pushing TPS until mobs are close to me as I'm focusing a lot more on what the stupid casters are doing.

I prefer LoS, but others don't get the hint when I run behind walls and shit that they should quite possibly follow 😉.

This is exactly why I started my own guild last year and took a very hard line with new members on how they'd be able to stick around. Be better than average, have raid awareness, and do their job, or you don't raid. I made this clear with each and every single person who joined up, and a couple of months later we had kingslayer titles and, by the time I quit in mid-September, 7/12 hardmodes down. That group eventually went on to get their 10-man ICC drakes.
 
I wonder how long they are going to be able to hold off nerfing the heroics. While they may be tuned fine once everyone is decked out in purp, even the easier ones seem to be tooth extraction worthy if doing a random.
 
the thing is heroics don't need to be nerfed, people just need to not be idiots, the people the fail at them now would fail at them in purps. im talking about the people who stand in fire and do less DPS then tanks

its not a gear issue nor is it a heroics are too hard issue

its a really stupid player issue, don't nerf heroics make them suffer
 
stop nerfing shit in wow, the game in general is easy enough

old school eq with true grinding and looting items from pvp was fun, I would of loved to see the WoW community there complaining.

You're only partially right. It's a combination of all facets; a gear issue, heroic design, player skill. Heroics do need a bit of fine tuning. Take one of my toons for example (3rd to 85 - Prot/Ret Paladin). He's gone through reg. Cat dungeons and has pretty much all 346 gear working on exalted reps to get some 359 pieces and whatnot. When I PUG, it's normally with very capable and somewhat equally-geared people. Tanks mark, hunters/mage/me CC, healer heals and doesn't drink mana, etc. Still, the design of the heroics seems to indicate it's made and leans towards full 352/359 setups. If that's the case, where is the "bridge" between what regular dungeons drop in terms of loot and what will allow you a measure of success in heroics? 20+ hrs a week grinding out JP? No thanks. Buying gold/farming to get lucky and buy epics off AH? Nah, not my thing. Being lucky enough to get pulled through heroics by no-lifers? Crafting some of your own epic gear? I'm a blacksmith and can craft 2 - 3 very nice epic-quality plate pieces to get me geared a bit better in heroics...the "screw you" is that some of the mats I need drop in...you guessed it...heroics more often than regular dungeons. Message to me from Blizzard, "No matter what position you get in and try to avoid it, you're going to get screwed one way or another and keep paying that monthly fee."

If that's truly the case, then the reg dungeons should be a bit harder and scale into heroics with a bit more logic. In this case, they are not. It's what I call a hockey-stick graph. There's no logical progression from regular Cat dungeons into heroic. I appreciate the challenge and have finished a few heroics on my Paladin but have had immense failures more times than not. WoW is built on a time-sink model. The more time you spend TRYING (and failing) and not ACHIEVING, the more time you've paid them for.
 
How does it seem to lean toward the 352/359 crowd?

My druid is now at... 341 equipped. I've had NO issues tanking dungeons, so long as you get a competent group. THAT is the main problem. The only dungeon that really sucked was Vortex. We had nobody able to CC a damn thing there, so there were several wipes. We ended up finishing it though.

The other big problem is that you can start queuing up at 329 average ilvl, not equipped. You get every idiot that tries to join as soon as they hit 329, who can't break 4k dps. Its the players, not the game.

THAT is my biggest problems with players. They want all the rewards, without doing any work. I'm not in a raiding guild. I'm not a "no lifer" (why does having better gear make someone a no lifer?). I had some JP saved up from WoTLK. I began running my daily dungeons to get more. I got somewhere from 5-10k just from leveling to 85. I do my dailies - gold is coming out of my ears.

If you can't run the dungeons for the chaos orbs, pay someone. They are going for under 500g/each on my server. If you don't have 1k gold by 85, then you're doing something wrong. Everyone is stuck on WoTLK mode - gearing up without working for it. The expansion has been out for a month. Not everyone deserves to get everything already.

I would hope that Blizzard don't nerf Heroics. Because Dungeons/Heroics are only punishing when players don't perform the necessary actions. If you do that, then they're eminently do~able: Even in poor gear.

Now... I don't claim to be the most 1337 Tankzor in the game - (I'm not - very good? Yes... But not 'best of the best') - so I don't like coming off like I'm telling people how to play. But a Hunter should be able to identify, Distracting Shot and trap an add. Shaman should be able to lock down an elemental/frog. People should be able to interrupt casters, and not stand in the F(%&#$(&%ing Fire/Shadow/Poison/Rockfall. And if assigned a symbol in the beginning of an instance... actually remember what that symbol is on subsequent pulls. Not to mention assisting on your Tank/DPS Skull.


It's not that hard.

Fully and Strongly Agreed: Far too many players don't know/understand/care about the very basics of how to work as a group and how to manage fight mechanics. Dungeons and Heroics are where you learn it.

there's a reason why WoW has 10 million players and EQ had like 10 thousand.

I enjoy challenging heroics when running them with a competent all-guild group, but when I get home from work after an 11-12 hour day and am dead ass tired, hand-holding a group of 4 strangers and teaching them how to play the game and tour-guiding them through content isn't anywhere near the top of my list of "fun" ways to spend my time.

likewise, I'd sooner shoot myself in the face than go back to a game that featured such amazing things as level-downs, training legions of mobs on anyone who was grinding in the same spot as you, naked corpse runs, and kill stealing.
 
I have only Pugged heroics, both as tank and DPS on my druid. I have decent tank gear. I was running stripped down UI, but added recount. I could not believe the 3k, 2.5k, 4k DPS I was seeing from some people on bosses.

I have terrible Boomkin gear relative to player base and do about 8k in 5 mans.

I can't finish 1/2 of my heroics tho due to time, not just skill of the group. Throw in some random wipes, boss explanations, healer mana, I'm in there 90 mins and seen 2-3 bosses.

I pray when I que I get towards the end of a run now. To actually see orbs.
 
As far as EQ that's just a difference between you and I. I enjoyed the challenge of EQ, WoW is a bunch of sniveling babies but it's the only game out their with a real community, and thankfully a bunch of the old EQ players decide to play together. I loved that if you constantly did something stupid you lost levels etc...

After work I get a guild group, so I don't have to hold anyone's hand...so that's your choice to hit that queue for pugs.

I got pulled into a guild group on my druid as DPS. I was completely reforged/gemmed for tanking, not at hit cap, etc. I was still pulling 8k dps.

I can't count the # of times I've joined a dungeon run and seen people with WoTLK purples. There is NO way you shouldn't have every piece replaced. People, IMO, can't get over the fact that a green would be better than a purple.
