See I have an issue with the idea of "rotations". Can't think of a better way to drain all the fun out of playing WoW than to focus on knowing which "buttons to push in the correct order". I like to think there's more to playing than that...maybe that's why I like world pvp so much, it adds factors that can't be predicted and planned for and that's where things get badass.

I am curious though, given the above how does this rate:

5k dps as Fury with an avg ilvl of 250 - this is in 5 man heroics

i do about 6-6.5k in heroics as a fury warrior with avg ilvl 264 gear, so you're about on par. i find that heroics arent really a great measure simply because stuff dies too quickly. warriors scale crazy the more buffs they get so if you got into an icc25 group you would probably be doing 10-11k. I do 15-16k under those circumstances.

edit: also, i have a one button smash macro that I use to dps as a fury warrior. its mindless and I do a crapload of dps, which works for me right now. I have played a feral druid so I know the pain of keeping up with a difficult rotation and I find that I enjoy the game more when I do not have to.

What trouble are you having on Putty? Are you pushing him into a phase transition with an ooze already up? It's not a guaranteed wipe... well, maybe more so on heroic 😛, but it can be beaten if your abom notices and doesn't waste the spit.

Other than that, I can't imagine anything else being a huge problem on normal... heroic is only a pain with trying to manage the disease and handling two oozes during the transition.

Well last nights run went better than any of our previous attempts. Previously we never even got him to phase 3 so I don’t think people really had their heads wrapped around what was going to happen then. Positioning issues mostly, and just bad luck. There was one fight where we were frozen by the gas but the orange ooze moved over and attacked us while frozen… was very glitchy last night for some reason.

We only had one attempt where we knocked him to the next phase when the orange ooze was out and that was actually the 9%. Some people made some stupid mistakes and got trapped by the ooze on the floor and died which gives Putricide more health, otherwise we would have had him.

This was only the third time we tried him but for sure he’s going down next time for us

So is anyone using DX11 with the latest patch. I was reading about how to enable it and it sounds easy enough. Anyone have any feed back on it?

Also are the majority of you buying the Cata download or are you going to get a disk on the 7th?

For WotLK I did a midnight purchase (Pre order) from a local Game Stop that stayed open. Was sort of fun in a geek sort of way to stand in line and have everyone jabbering about their warlock did this or their fury warrior was going to do that. Listening to stories about guilds and people telling Chuck Norris jokes…. yeah well the Chuck jokes were sort of lame but hey it was all part of the geek ambience.

If you are like me you are getting the download so you won’t have to stand in line at midnight and then getting a copy on disk later.

I couldnt stand the pompous nerds who were at my midnight opening.

Expand a shortcut to the woW.exe with "-d3d11". Alternatively, open the "Config.wtf" in "\ World of Warcraft \ Beta \ WTF" and add the line SET gxApi "d3d11" (with quotes)

It's kinda hard to rate DPS in a heroic since you can never guarantee which buffs you'll have... excluding the ones you bring and even your own group's gear level makes a difference for some classes since a boss fight's duration can usually affect DPS.

The orange ooze might shift slightly and act like it's trying to reacquire a target while you're frozen, but I've never seen it actually attack someone. This might occur if the person was right beside the ooze as I've never seen someone beside the ooze while under the effects of Tear Gas.

We only had one attempt where we knocked him to the next phase when the orange ooze was out and that was actually the 9%. Some people made some stupid mistakes and got trapped by the ooze on the floor and died which gives Putricide more health, otherwise we would have had him.

You mean stuck as in surrounded by ooze? That's just bad spatial awareness right there as ranged usually can keep around the middle, but not too clumped up to avoid everyone having to dodge a Malleable Goo. I usually do Putty as a melee DPS or tank, but I've done him on my Warlock (in 25-man) without a problem.

Also, Putricide can only be healed if Mutated Plague falls off a target and it's only applied to tanks. Everyone takes damage from the plague though.

how does 1 enable DX11 with WoW?

I wouldn't waste my time on it unless it provides an actual speed advantage, but based on most DX11 tests I see on Anandtech, it actually reduces performance in most (if not all) games.

DX11 isnt always for speed advantage but image quality. Plus something like my 5870 isnt stressed out at all to even lose frames except for something stupid like marrowgar's fire.

i enabled it no real difference with everything but water detail on ultra

for some reason setting water detail any higher then low makes all water vanish

Elemental Invasion - Part 2 on live servers!
The 2nd part of the Elemental Invasion just went live! I'm still investigating but it looks like we only have 2 extra quests for the moment, don't hesitate to post in comments if you find anything else!

so, there are a couple of people playing the runecloth market trying to keep it above 10g, so after my last farming yesterday i dump about 60 or so stacks on the ah at 7.5 each. log in today and one of the players bought out the entire stock 🙂

That happened during the PTR too :\.

apperently the issue on live is view port mods or at least part of the issue, i turned mine off and water detail is fine now on ultra

both CT viewport and CBH caused issues, posts suggest they all do

yeah well I watched it march across the room and attack someone while no one could move. and it wasn't just me as others were like "WTF!?" On Vent. The raid was very glitchy for some reason.

Bad special awareness.. yeah and panic LOL. that was the first time we had gotten to phase 3 and even though the RL went over it our group really needs to see it at least once before we get it down.

On the DX11 thing I figure it would only be for eye candy anyway and that my HD6870 should be able to maintain 60 FPS even in DX11. still haven't given it a shot though

other then sitting in a major city with hundreds of other people it wont have an issue with DX11 - somewhat CPU dependent as well

i have the same card DX11 really didn't make a frame rate difference. shadow detail is still has the largest effect on FPS for the in game settings

card works fine. it replaced my GTX 285. not a massive upgrade but its quieter and uses less power, which is why i got it.

i play at 1920x1200 with everything on ultra except shadows which i set to high, 16x filtering 8x multy sample, other then dal/org being stupid populated i rarely dip below 80 FPS

that's not all vid card related. having a I7 920 running at 4GHz does amazing things for FPS as well

C2D @ 4GHz - I7 920 @ 4GHz was a much larger upgrade then a 8800GT - GTX 285 OC in terms of FPS

I rumming a pair of 24". One with a 280gtx and the other with a 480. The 280 definitely suffers from cpu bottlenecking. The 480 may have some cpu related slowdowns but not as much. The 480 machine with ultra graphics stays above 20 even in lagalaran.

lowest i see in lagalarn is in the 20s, where like 400 people are there, nothing is really gonna save you

also running a pair or 24" you mean dual monitors running off separate cards on the same comp or 2 computers both with 24s and diff cards

i is confused

i run dual 25.5s & play in windowed mode that i maximize

yeah even the 5770's get me 60 FPS (Vsync'd to my dual 24's) in windowed mode maximized. Ultra with shadows on high, except in dal where I dip to 40 FPS normally. Running the rig below, been wanting to OC the i7 860 but never done it before so reluctant. I haven't played with the filtering or multi sampling yet either.
